to be a bit more precise, i have a MOV file on my pc, that is the result of trying to convert a quicktime file, canceled it in the process, and got a file that looks like a copy of the one i was trying to convert, except it has no size to it, it says it has 0Kb

    as seen in this pic....

BUT whenever i try to delete it, or put it in the recycle bin, i just get a calculating time remaining screen, then freezes.

    as seen in this pic

i cant even move it off my destop. can someone please help me out? i want and need it off my desktop!

btw, i tried doing it in safe mode, did not work

Did you try dragging the file into your recycle bin if you can?

Go to the command prompt and try to rename the file. If you still can't delete it, try a reboot. The rename should hopefully release the file lock.

there could be a process thats causing it to freeze. try restarting in SAFE MODE, and then deleting it.

What OS is that, is that vista? The file definitely seems to be corrupt. Maybe try and scan it with any antivirus software or something, maybe it can remove it.

i've had that problem before...no you cant right-click it, no you cant do a command prompt delete/rename....

i got it program called "unlocker" and i think it worked with that (it finds what program is using it and it kills the process and/or allows you to delete the file.

My wife had a problem similar to this on her laptop last week (XP, though). Load Windows in Safe Mode w/ command prompt. Navigate through the command prompt to your desktop directory/folder (wherever Vista keeps it, I think it's c:\users\[name]\desktop). You shouldn't have a problem deleting it from there.

My guess is that it's corrupted and any time Windows tries to access it (thus, trying to read it at first), it locks things up.

You could try an app called unlocker.
