A fellow member asked for a UPC code for the ice cream truck twins. So I decided to take a photo of it. When look at the photo I noticed the three symbols below the UPC code. The two on the left and right I know, but I never noticed the one in the middle. What does a yellow triangle with a lion in the middle mean?

    Found this:

"The Lion Mark was developed in 1988 by the British Toy & Hobby Association as a symbol of toy safety and quality for the consumer, exactly what the CE Mark is not.

While the Lion Mark is only used by BTHA members, its membership includes many major international and European companies. In all, the BTHA members supply around 95% of all toys sold in the UK.

So what is the point of a Lion Mark?

To display the Lion Mark, the supplier has signed a strict Code of Practice, (the TRA Code is based on this same document), which, as well as covering toy safety matters, demands the highest standards of ethics in advertising and in the thorny matter of counterfeiting."

    so uhm,....yeah.

So the Lion Mark pretty much eliminates any need for the CE mark?

idk, I just typed 'red lion on yellow triangle symbol' into yahoo/google and started reading.

Basically it seems like each country has it's own symbol that means, "this toy won't poison and murder your child"

Personally I think the american symbol for that should be the graphic image of a toy actually murdering a child.

you know, because that would be awesome, and that's how we roll.

It's because in the UK we eat lions. Any toy with this mark on it's packaging is suitable for a sale in a manly nation that eats lions.

    A simple explanation I found:

So yeah, it's an earned symbol designed to give consumers confidence that the toy they're purchasing is safe.
