Have you noticed, that there were so far no German cars in the TF product-lines?

    How sad is that?

There were only American and Japanese car-models like Mazda, GM, Ford etc. - even in the Alternator series:-/
A Transformer of a "Bayerische Motoren-Werke" vehicle would be somewhat of cool!

    *Have to correct the head-line:
"Have you noticed, that there were so far as good as no German cars in the TF product-lines"

You do know what the original G1 Bumblebee is right? So I think recent TF product-lines would be a more accurate title.

I can't remember his name or the model, but there was an Audi in RoTF and isn't there supposed to be a Mercedes in DOTM? If so, any chance we'll see that as a toy too?

'Not-Barricade' in ROTF was an Audi R8.

I think I was looking too much in the past. Yes the Audi R8 - of course. I didn't spend much attention to the movie toys. But more random cars would have been cool, I meant.

Sideways' toy has some very deliberate changes from a real r8.

Surprised no-one has answered this yet.. for many years, one reason some German (and in fact, manufacturers from other countries) have not licensed their vehicles for use is because they are uncomfortable with what, in their perception, is the violent or warlike image of the toys.

However, it's an interesting point. As far as I'm aware, Volkswagen as a marque still does not want to license it's name, logo or vehicles; however, the VW Group owns Audi (amongst others), who of course did license a vehicle for ROTF - albiet one not shown with guns, or fighting, arguably.

It's a wacky world, car licensing. IIRC, GM have a problem with their cars being seen as "baddies", which is why the licence agreement for Barricade's vehicle form involved it being a Saleen Mustang.

As a sidenote, not sure how that will work if Barricade is back in TF3, as Saleen effectively went bust, and as of this year their current owners have said they're not in the automotive industry anymore. They've been in a hole for several years (since 2007/8), so i doubt they would have been involved in any TF3 licensing arrangements. Barricade presumably has a new car mode, if he's in the film.

Hang on. German companies don't want their vehicles marketed as Transformers to kids for fear the toys might be construed as violent, but they'll happily whore themselves out to the James Bond films while their cars (courtesy of Q) are turned into mobile weapon platforms that can turn Bond's enemies into Swiss cheese (or make their remains small enough to fit in most overhead compartments)?

    Wacky.

I'm more inclined to believe that German auto-makers don't want their brands to be construed with something as "plebian" (that is, enjoyed by the masses) as Transformers, heh.

I remember specifically hearing that Volkswagon didn't want to have their brand associated with war (esp. since they supplied their vehicles to the Nazi's in WWII). I think Honda had a problem with it too which was the reasoning behind the Alternators Windcharger losing the barrel of his gun and having two "shields". I have no idea regarding other car maker brands.
