Today while cleaning my Transformers, I took Samurai Prowl off the shelf and prepared to transform him to make sure I get rid of the dust in both modes. Having fiddled around with RTS Wreck-Gar for so long, I stared a Prowl in confusion for a moment, unable to recall how to transform his legs. Do I twist the waist to the left or right? Which leg goes at the back and which at the front? Has this sort of thing ever happened to you where you have so many figures that you eventually forget how to transform them?

Admittedly, mega-scale Beast Machines Cheetor (not the HUGE one). For the life of me, I couldn't remember the damn head/chest rotation part.

All the time, but since I normally avoid instructions from the get go I don't mind rediscovering an old transformation.

I remember exactly the all steps on ever TF I have or have had. So about 160-200 instructions in my head and no where near slow down.
But I have Very a bad memory forgetting most things in a week. Guess they're different parts of the brain.

Generally I'll remember transformations, they'll just be a little slower for the older figures, and sometimes I'll leave a step out if it's non-crucial (and thus harder to notice; for example, putting the cockpit-looking tower on the blue half of Energon Omega Supreme in the right place in vehicle mode). I'm not sure I've ever totally stalled out on remembering a transformation.

A few times, usually with movieverse toys 'cos they tend to be the most fiddly.

It happens. If it's a figure I've dug out of storage that I've not handled for a decade I can get stumped. Occasionally there might be a figure where a lot of the transformation scheme depends on moving one small part or the whole thing won't close up. Usually my transforming sense quickly kicks in though and I just work it out.
With hundreds of figures in my TF collection a few transformation steps are bound to slip through the cracks in my old man memory from time to time.

The question you should be asking me is 'have I ever remebered a transformation?' Seriously, I cannot store over 300 transformations in my head at one time! That's why I keep my box of instructions close by at all times.

I even forgot how to transform G1 Prowl once

Just too many figures in my collection to remember every last one of them.

The simple ones like the figures from the Classics Starscream mold aren't that hard to remember but some figures where not that easy to begin with even when I was going by the directions for the first time.

It's been happening more and more with recent purchases. Funnily enough, however, I can remember how to transform most of my oldest TFs, including some I don't really fiddle with often.

Sometimes I'll forget on the second transformation of a new figure. But I guess that's because I used the instructions the first time and then the figure stands on display for a few weeks before I pick it up again.
That's like when I'm selling figures on my car boot stall that don't have instructions and the person buying will ask me to show them how it transforms. Here's me telling the person I'm a big TF fan and have loads of figures and then left scratching my head trying to display. The pressure to perform unexpectedly can fuggle the memory, especially when the stall is busy and really I'd just like them to give me money and go away with the figure so I can serve the next person. Often I'll keep a notepad to hand and just write down the name and line the figure is from and tell them to Google it or ask at a TF fansite.

Sixshot routinely confuses me and I regularly have problems getting him into his various six modes. It tends to go Robot > HORRIBLE MESS THAT LOOKS LIKE THE LOVECHILD OF A TANK AND A DOG > Jet and back again.
