I'm just wondering if anyone here can help me out?

I won an auction for the 6 Yellow G2 Constructicons, recently on EBay.

When I got them I didn't question anything as I didn't look at any online pictures. I just set myself the task of finding the parts to make Devastator.

Over the next few weeks I got the parts to make up Devastator in the yellow set, and an original green set.

I had bid on another set which I thought I'd loose, but in the end won. It was another set of G2 Yellow Constructicons. This one came with all the parts for Devastator though.

This second set turned up the other day, and whilst looking at them, noticed a few differences right off.

The first set I got didn't have the "Decepticon" and the Decepticon insignia tampographed on them. Certain parts like Scrapper's Canopy, Scavenger's Bucket Arm, and Bonecrusher's Canopy are moulded in grey plastic. I then looked for the trademark stampings, and found that they had Hasbro ones, with oval blankings where Takara stampings should be.

Anyone able to help me out with this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Phill

I have seen sets of G2 Constructicons with grey parts like you mention, but I don't know if they're KOs. The ones on tfu.info are shown with yellow parts, but that doesn't necessarily mean the grey ones are fakes.

They're the European versions. They were only sold separately, and came with no parts to complete Devastator.

Yup...European releases at the end of their G1. Like stated previously, they didn't come with the Devastator parts.

It's not a knockoff, and a bit rarer than either the G2 (yellow, not orange) or original Devs, I think. That probably explains why not a lot of people know about it.

Ah yes, the "G1,5" Constructicons. Have Hook and longhaul lying here.

as long they have chrome, dont worry, i dont remember any yellow "G2" KOs with chrome

Seems to be the uncombinable european constructicons, they came without devastator pieces, and with some retoolings as well to prevent the combination (i still wonder why... same deal goes with Leokaiser)

Too bad they were retooled in that way.

I wonder the same thing. I think Hasbro Europe simply didn't want to release combiners at the time, but had those molds available for new product, so simply left out the parts (and the two most obvious limb parts of Liokaiser, Gaihawk and Hellbat). There is the rumour of the lost sprues for some of Liokaiser's parts, but I've come to think of that as speculation in itself as to why the full combiner was never released. Seems to me that there was an anti-combiner sentiment, and the G1.5 Constructicons, remolded without their connector pegs, seems to be proof of that in my eyes. I'd also say that's why Hellbat and Gaihawk were dropped - they, of the three gestalt teams released at the time without their parts, were the only ones who had obvious built in combiner parts.

Whoa! So its true? Because now I recall about a couple of folks buying constructions but didn't have the parts to combine...and all this while I thought the parts were misplaced or something...

From what I've heard, there are 4 main differences between the G1 yellow and G2 yellow constructicons.
All of the soft plastic parts are grey (already mentioned)
the purple parts are the G1 shade, not the lighter G2 shade
Scavenger and Hook don't have the metal combining pegs, and
    no G2 stamp (duh)

That's the bad thing about G2 toys, they already look like KOs. :D
