I may be imagining it, but have Hasbro cut corners with Deluxe Jolt and his Electro whips?

In this pic of his bot mode on Kapow he clearly has a switch for spring loaded whips:-

yet here he has a very simple wheel to turn them out (as seen in peaugh's review on utube):-

I don't think they cut corners, it's just a simple change. It happens a lot with toys

IDK man, I kinda like the wheels better.

No spring load, no weak springs!

I think it's more of a "what can we do instead of a spring, so that it can handle continued use better" types of situations. Spring loaded whips would have been interesting, but overall I prefer the wheels the production version has. It'll handle the continued use a bit better than a spring would, and it keeps them from accidentally shooting out, if the little bit of plastic put in place to stop them breaks off or something.

and i like the whips they way they are... if they were spring loaded, they'd just be a boring gimmick; but with them being the way they are, with out the springs, and being able to be manually rotated out, one would think that would be an improvement, since now you can pose them... :)  something you could not do if they had springs.

    spring loaded weapons, suck anyways...

But Starscream does look like deliberate cost cutting. I mean, compared to what we should have had, those arms are terrible :(

It looks like, in both pictures, that the whips just slide out and they changed they shape of the tab that you push to slide the whips. I see no evidence of a spring in the original photo.

Which is fine by me, I stopped giving a damn about the Voyager Screamer as soon as they announced the leader class one.

If they were spring-loaded whips, they could have proved to be as annoying as Barricade's punching arm, and marred an otherwise neat figure. Although that wasn't a universal problem, I don't mind seeing it averted. Assuming they were intended to be spring-loaded in the first place.
