I recently won this guy on E-Bay ($50)

I think he's pretty cool but does anyone know is this is a good price?

Think he runs about anywhere from $50-$75.

I thought his Backstory was pretty cool being one of the Constructions on Cybertron before Megatron converted them

He was also in one scene of the early G1 episodes. Seems like a good deal.

I thought Megatron created the Constructicons on Earth.

there's different backgrounds on how they came to be. I personally like the G1 comics where Megs used the creation matrix in prime's head to create them.

Good price. I think I've seen him as low as $40 once or twice, but that was a while ago.

According to the story Omega Supreme told Optimus Prime during the G1 cartoon, the Constructicons were on Cybertron and were his friends. Megatron created a machine that reprogrammed Autobots into Decepticons. He used it on the Constructicons and made them bad. This is the origin story used for Hauler. He was the 7th Constructicon that got away from the machine.

The way I've always put the Constructicon origin together was that the story Omega told was what actually happened. When we see Megatron's origin where he is built by the Constructicons, they were still good at this point. They were scientists that experimented. Megatron was basically an experiment gone bad. He later reprogrammed them in the story Omega told. Then back on earth when they first showed up and he talked about creating them, I take that to mean he rebuilt them to have earth modes.

Sounds like a good explination and since they dont have the Devastator mode untill Megatron turned them into evil bots then Hauler will fit in perfect as he nor anyone else have any role in Devastator because they havent gottne the combined abilaty yet.

I've seen him listed both as Road Hauler and simply Hauler. Anyone know what his "official" name is?

I know he was called Hauler in the first MTMTE episode, but did e-Hobby keep that name or add Road to it?

And then after season one, Hauler and Reflector opened a tiki bar on Dinobot Island.

    Load Hauler:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constructicons

The presence of a larger than usual number of Constructicons in the Five Faces of Darkness scene was referenced somewhat by the release of Load Hauler, a Constructicon-colored repaint of the Autobot, Grapple, released exclusively by online retailer E-Hobby in 2003. His biography presents him to have once been a member of the Constructicons, before they were Decepticons, who joined up with the Autobots after Megatron co-opted his team-mates with the Robo-Smasher, and accompanied Optimus Prime's crew aboard the Ark. This in itself is a reference to the anomalous character of Hauler, an Autobot clearly based on the Grapple toy who features in the first animated series episode, but never appears again. Orange in his animated appearance, Load Hauler's bio explains this color discrepancy by presenting Load Hauler as a "highly capricious self-expressionist," who frequently changes his coloration.
