Nintendo has knocked the release schedule out of the park with Switch. I got my 3DS on launch day back in March 2011 and it was eight months before the first game that I was super psyched about came out on October 27 (Mario 3D Land). I got Pilotwings Resort as a birthday gift in April, but it was super short and not really a meaty title that I was pumped for. I think Tetris and Pushmo came out in October 2011, but I didn't have the cash to get them until December. In contrast, with the Switch, I'll have three physical games and a digital one that are all amazing, content-packed titles within seven months of launch. The first year of 3DS was just a trainwreck in general, but it seems like it and the Wii U taught Nintendo lessons. 3DS taught them the importance of having a good launch window lineup, and Wii U taught them the importance of having fresh, new content and clear, focused marketing.
