Nintendo has knocked the release schedule out of the park with Switch. I got my 3DS on launch day back in March 2011 and it was eight months before the first game that I was super psyched about came out on October 27 (Mario 3D Land). I got Pilotwings Resort as a birthday gift in April, but it was super short and not really a meaty title that I was pumped for. I think Tetris and Pushmo came out in October 2011, but I didn't have the cash to get them until December. In contrast, with the Switch, I'll have three physical games and a digital one that are all amazing, content-packed titles within seven months of launch.

The first year of 3DS was just a trainwreck in general, but it seems like it and the Wii U taught Nintendo lessons. 3DS taught them the importance of having a good launch window lineup, and Wii U taught them the importance of having fresh, new content and clear, focused marketing.

I see there is a Switch w/ Odyssey bundle for $379. I planned on getting both anyways but the extra $20 is for a case and screen protector which I don't really want or care about, hmmm

The screen protector is a must for the Switch, IMO. Even if you don't plan on taking it anywhere.

Yeah I know that but I would rather pay just for the console and game, get a cheap third party screen protector somewhere else. I guess I could always sell off the exclusive case, I am sure someone would want it. May wait to see what kind of Black Friday deals are out there

I'm not really sure how necessary a screen protector is, depending on your usage. I've had mine for I guess about a month now, and there's not even a hint of bending, scuffing, or scratching from the dock. And it never leaves the dock anyway unless I'm taking it somewhere, for which I've got a nice hard-shell carrying case.

I've never needed a screen protector for my phones either. A fall is a lot more likely to cause the screen to shatter than to get scratched, so a bumper case does far more good. It makes a lot more sense on the Wii U or 3DS, since those have plastic screens instead of glass.

YMMV though. It's good to have options.

I got the chance to try out the demo that's been popping up at Walmarts, Best Buys, etc. throughout the United States, and oh man is this game something special. Movement isn't as fast or extreme as in Mario Sunshine or 64, but holy cow does it feel satisfying to just... move around. The way Mario carries momentum up and down hills and the reworked dive mechanic are immensely satisfying to experience firsthand. If the level design and music are up to snuff, I think Mario Sunshine may finally be dethroned as my favorite game.

Pre-ordered. Between this and Doom coming out November 10, my Switch is gonna get some love.
