so, transformers are not built, they grow up from baby transformers, referred to as hatchlings so therefore they hatch out of something, which looked like organic gelatinous eggs.. with their development fuelled by energon.

    that's quite a departure..

yes, there's a room onboard the nemesis containing them all, reminded me of the scene from the first aliens film when they first encounter a face-hugger. it's where megatron first hunts down starscream, i got the impression that starscream was looking after them. starscream the babysitter!

if memory served me correctly megatron slams starscream into one of the 'eggs', knocking the baby transformer out, starscream then shows its limp body to megatron and says that the hatchlings will keep on dying without more energon being found.

the baby transformer looks alot like the kitchen-bots.

It's not like Transformers don't already have different creation processes according to the universe they're situated in anyway. Protoforms, budding, atechnogenesis, flat-out being constructed, etc.

Mommy, how are baby robots born?

Well, a giant robotic stork named Swoop delivers them in tiny little eggs.

But what was that I saw you and daddy doing?

    He...uh...had a screw loose.

This dramatization made possible by a grant from the "I'm such an idiot I can't believe I just posted that" foundation.

Interesting new take. Though I'm not a fan of Furmans writing, I thought the budding idea was cool. But now it makes me wonder where the hatchlings/eggs come from.

Hehe, I still remember that pic of the Transformer going thru budding, it was pretty creepy but cool.

I like this movie idea as well. I just wonder where the Hatchlings are hatched from.

Maybe the Sparks are Born as such then placed into an Assembled Body.
Best ask Roberto on this one.

Yes, i wondered whether the movie 'hatchlings' were meant to be a different idea from protoforms. They seemed to suggest that TFs are indeed born rather than built and that they go through a growth process.

Also another minor point of interest, anyone else notice how the bots in ROTF seem to contain some liquids in their systems (as well as the hatchling 'pods' been full of fluids too)? Starscream's spittle and Ravage's spine been coated in some kind of greenish goo when BB ripped it out? Apparently Cybertronians also possess fluids of some kind in their bodies and are born in fluids. Kinda an organic concept don't you think?

So now i gotta wonder, were Megatron & Optimus hatchlings once? OMG, baby Megs and Optimus! Or maybe Optimus, as a descendent of the original Primes, has a different origin story and creation explanation. Hmm...

Of course, I nearly forgot about Jetfire's mentioning of parents! Sooo, i guess this could be taken as evidence that in the movie world, TFs are created in a similar way to us humans: they have parents and are born! Uh oh, i sense fanfic writers scribbling notes for stories...

We even have them in toy form! They're called Robot Heroes.
