To prepare for the upcoming movie Hasbro has updated their Transformers site with a glossary of terms for those new to the Transformers universe including brief movie character information. There is also a toy and media timeline. The last update is that the Newspapers Association of America will be using Optimus Prime to promote the reading of newspapers. The ad in question was posted here months ago and features the 20th Anniversary Prime reading a newspaper with the 20th Anniversary DVD cover on it. As far as I know this is the first office response to the ad by Hasbro and could mean that it will become more common soon. The links to this information are below.

Literacy campaign was reported earlier and discovered to be in place for over 2 months now.

I knew it was posted earlier, which I did mention, but didn't know if it was in wide use. I only remember one person saying that they saw it. I can't recall the glossary or timeline being posted earlier though. I wish they had put a little more effort into the glossary.

Nobody in the universe, including the company that came up with the name, can spell 'Scorponok'.

    Ironic given their literacy campaign.

There are some accuracy issues with the timeline, and a once-over by a proofreader wouldn't have hurt... but definitely an A for effort.

    "1996 –

    · Hasbro releases the TRANSFORMERS BEAST WARS toy line, featuring characters from the animated series. AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS are replaced by MAXIMALS and PREDACONS, robots that turn into animals and insects. This line also introduced the first female TRANSFORMERS figure, BLACKARACHNIA."

Say what? Guess they forgot about Arcee...

Since Arcee never got a toy, that's still accurate.

They might want to mention that it ended up running for 80 issues, not to mention spawning a GI Joe crossover and 3 limted series (movie, Headmasters and TF Universe, which was also later reprinted into a TPB).

No that's accurate, Arcee was wasn't given an official toy till Energon. And Wreckers Arcee' just a Black Arachnia repaint anyway

    Meh, not the first time.

In the season 3 after show profiles the narrator says that Unicron remade Megatron into Galvatron to bolster the Decepticon ranks

Also, the Unicron statue was released in Decepticon styled packaging, with the function "Universal Dominator".
In a sense, Unicron is to the Decepticons as Primus is to the Autobots, given that Primus has an Autobot Planet Key.
