Let's face it, with all this talk about Bay hating the dinobots, this had to come up.

Hasbro, a toy company would be smart to push for a movieverse Grimlock. What do kids love, Cars and Robots. More so, Dinosaurs that turn into robots!!! Let's look at the sales. Dinobots are one of the most popular sub groups. Grimlock is almost as iconic as Prime, Megatron, and Starscream. Don't believe me? Try to purchase a masterpiece Grimlock on eBay. Now check for Prime, Megs, and Screamer.

I know that if they did Grimlock right in the movie. Not the stupid Grimlock, but the kick butt Grimlock that has some beef with Megs and doesn't respect Prime until the end of the movie, he would could just as profitable for the franchise as Prime and BB.

Thoughts about Grimlock for #3 from a business stand point.

Triple changer, with the dinosaur as a rage mode is the only way I'll ever accept a movie-verse Grimlock.

    Ebay:
From a money making, and/or filmmaking standpoint?

    He's freakin' GOLD.

But I don't want a nameslap in there, Bay doesn't like dinos, and maybe for all the list-able reasons there could be, it's for the best Grimmers (& Co) doesn't show up. Hell, we can just say we'll be saving the likes of him for the next TF movie reboot after TF3. ;)

What would you do if Hasbro showed off an ROTF Grimlock at ToyFair 2010? :D

Yes, but with Bay hating Dinobots, he would most likely bomb the sh*t out of his personality. Imagine Skids/Mudflap times 10.

Not disagreeing with your premise that kids love dinosaurs and associated robots, but I'm not sure I agree with the example you're using as support for that premise. I don't see how the eBay sales of an ~$150 Japanese import collector-oriented figure (MP Grimlock) demonstrate that Grimlock/Dinobots are popular and sell well among kids. The most recent set of Dinobots to be released to a mainstream, US mass market were the trio in Animated. How did the sales of those three figures, and Grimlock in particular, do? And not just anecdotal "he sold well in my area!" sort of thing.

Like I say, not disagreeing with the premise. I think a well-done movie-style Grimlock, maybe at the Leader class without too many electronics, would probably be a hit with the kids. If nothing else, it would break up the Prime/Megatron monotony at the Leader class.

Well, but then you piss off the G1 cartoon fans and we spend the months after TF3 inundated with "Bhey hcnaged Grimlock, hex not like teh carton so he sux I kil Bey!" threads (take the outrage over Soundwave's voice and multiply by about a million). Realistically, though, I'd love to see that...just as long as they avoid taking a page from Furman and making him an overpowered canon Sue.

I am now imagining the action team of Grimlock, Mudflap and Skids vs. one hundred decepticons, and my nipples are melting with the awesomeness.

And I'll repeat what I said billions of times before, you don't need true DINOSAURS for the Dinobots, just give'em Cybertron walker alt modes, like this:

Sad, but probably true. I never saw them as retarded.
Bay could play the crap out of the bumbling Dinobots and turn them into jokes and lame-os, thats possible, (Duuh, me Grimlock not know answer, duhhh,..*drool*...) but Spielberg may have something to say about that. He knows the appeal of Dinos in cinema better than most.

The retarded angle has never occured to me.
They are 'primitive' - just charicatured cave men, thats all.
    No big deal.

I have now convinced myself that REX is the best alt mode for Grimlock ever, you can just see the rail gun turning into his sword and the nuclear war-head into his primary long-rang weapon.

    It even got Movie-chicken-legs already!
