Takara def. makes a lot more variety than Hasbro, but Hasbro is the original? Which company do you prefer?

    Takara: pre-Transformers/Microchange/Diaclone, etc.

    What a weird question.

    How is Hasbro "the original"?

The two companies aren't rivals. Hasbro and Takara develop most Transformers toys together. Takara develops some toys on its own, as does Hasbro. The best toys are usually those co-developed by the two companies. I'd like to take a third option.

    Hasbro is the... original?

TFs are born from both companies and their shared ideas and inspiration, so I choose both.

I wouldn't necessarily say Takara has more variety, as there's lots of Hasbro stuff that they don't get in Japan, either

If I find Takara on the shelves and on rebate, it will get my vote.

Hasbro made the Takara products into a global phenomenon and really introduced a lot of people to Transformers years before those people would learn the origins of the toys (basically in the pre-internet age we had few ways to learn about that). So I could understand the how some would say that Hasbro toys were "the originals" even if they actually weren't.

No offense OP, but maybe you should do some research before making bold statements.

I buy from both, but whenever possible, I try to get the Takara version. There are a few examples where I've felt that the Hasbro version was closer to the cartoon, but not often. For example, I wasn't seen on the silver chrome spoiler on Sunstreaker. That was based on the G1 toy, Hasbro's was closer to the show.

I generally prefer Hasbro, as they are usually 1/3 the cost. But every once in a while, I have to get the TT version, ala Henkei Dinobot. The difference was worth the cost.

Every time these kinds of polls come along, I always want a "who gives a flying fuck" option.

I buy Hasbro. The price is bullshit enough in Australia as it is, I don't wanna add import fees on the top of that.

Hasbro with exceptions. Takara actually offers less figures (not counting promo black redecoes) than Hasbro at, as pointed out, almost twice or three times the cost. And by and large there's hardly difference these days.

Hasbro, they don't try to squeeze every cent out of me.
