This is far from an unreasonable suggestion.
There's only so many voyager price point spots available. Movie and TF toys will occupy many of the future ones. Why waste any of the ones left on an older mold.
Hasbro could get quite a bit of money from this. All the people who missed out on him, want him, but can't buy him now because of the inflated pricepoint, can purchase him straight from Hasbro for less, and Hasbro gets quite a bit of dough.
Together with Skywarp too! Though in all seriousness, Hasbro never even re-release Optimus Prime, why would they re-release Ultra Magnus. Of course if you count the Asia exclusive they did re - release Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus together once.
i needed a magnus BADLY, until i got lucky this weekend when i found an ultra magnus, minus all accessories, for $55 shipped....since it will be displayed in robot mode wearing the city commander armor, i don't need the guns, will just pick up that KO eventually to get the windvane and smokestacks for vehicle mode
i need skywarp though
If they thought they could, they would. If they don't they won't.
This is probably why they won't.
He got released with Skywarp and with Optimus, so I don't see it happening again.
Though I'm surprised Takara never did one during Henkei.
You could say this about ANY Classics/Universe figure.
You have to remember that the demand for Magnus went up due to the City Commander set. However, Hasbro DID NOT release the City Commander set. Hasbro, therefore, has no reasoning to re-release Magnus.
Tomy should reissue Magnus and more than Magnus, Sixshot!
Come on, people need someone to cut Magnus head.
So glad I picked one up at Target and there were quite a few on the rack when I bought it. I always thought Hasbro would re-release it at some point so I didn't think about buying another one to keep as MISB. Oh well.
Heres an idea, they do a new magnus toy that transformers into his Aromored form! Make it kinda like the titanium.
The real shame is that Magnus was a toy that had less than great market saturation to begin with.
Sorry guys but no.
Ultra Magnus was a widely released target exclusive that was heavily pushed and promoted out on endcaps. The set was not popular and was clearanced out at as much as 80 to 90 percent in some areas. Hasbro has 0 reason to release this figure again. A new run of this figure would have to be in the high thousands. The demand for this figure is microscopic. Specifically, new collectors wanting to complete a city commander set
Disagreed. It is very unreasonable.
Targets everywhere sat on cases of Battle for Autobot City 2-packs until they sold for far less than a single Deluxe (and keep in mind that they retailed for a price barely above a single Voyager... you essentially got Skywarp for free, or vice-versa depending on where you saw the draw).
On top of that there was the not-North American 2-pack that was coupled with Optimus Prime, and THOSE had to be clearanced off to move product.
Hasbro gave you the toy and no one cared for 2 years.
Yes. Maybe even a Beast Wars Megs style Yesssssss.
yeah, the set SHELFWARMED UBERLY.....until city commander was announced......
now it is worth its weight in gold....what sucks, target is too far away for me, i wanted this set BADLY when it came out, but never got to go to target and get it.....now i will never own it, at least i'll have my magnus soon to heal that wound
highly doubt they would make another truck with a trailer like magnus, the days of that kind of stuff has sailed
That's pretty much it.
In addition there's no place for it due to it's Voyager size in Generations and it doesn't fit in anywhere else. Like it or not, Hasbro has moved on.
It's funny there were people who were really unwilling to pay retail price and were very verbal about it on the boards, then people complaining when they found out people were getting it less then what it was where they were (first when it wasn't on clearance where they were, then when it wasn't as severely clearanced as other areas), then people started complaining when the price skyrocketed due to the increased demand.
Personally I had gotten the set for Skywarp and didn't think much about UM and thought it was a great deal on day one.
Not really. They could do it pretty much the exact same way the Titanium figure did it.
it works for a one off figure like titanium magnus, think, if they did something like titanium magnus, the cab and trailer would be one single piece, the cab could not function like a truck cab and turn left and right, killing playablility for kids
there there would be fans who bitched the cab didn't turn into a white optimus prime
