Remember those allegations? They pop in my head everytime I buy a new Transformer. Does anyone else feel guilty? Or is your fixation on multiple plastic goods higher than caring for your fellow man?

Hurm. I don't wish to sound hostile or antagonistic, but it's been nagging me for awhile now. Humans are selfish beings, even when they try not to be. I know this. I haven't stopped buying figures.

If it bothers you so much, stop buying Transformers. More for the rest of us.

    Exactly.

Same goes for the people who "feel bad" about eating meat or wearing shoes.

I came from a third world country. I feel bad BUT I've seen worse. These people are given free food.

If not for us and people like us buying said Hasbro products, these people, as bad as conditions may be, wouldn't have a job to sustain their families to begin with. A bad job with shitty conditions is still a job, nonetheless.

Admittedly I feel conflicted. Not sure if Hasbro ever did anything about this issue aside from releasing a canned legal response from their PR department. And I predict this thread will probably be locked soon. The topic's just too hot, methinks.

I thought so. That's the way it is, here. I didn't anticipate such hostile responses, though. Hasbro surely has the money to improve conditions, no? I guess people would rather have their plastic goodies.

This also doesn't belong in the toy thread. More like GD. My response was not hostile more like reality. I have seen worse.

I think that these things should be brought to light.
    What exactly is going on?
Why can't Hasbro make figures in America?

Takara is in charge of all the transformer factories. If Hasbro were to do anything about it, they would have to consult Takara :(

I do feel this is a topic worth discussion. do I feel bad... on the whole no. But thats mostly because I forget where these toys come from. When I'm confronted with the issue... yeah, I can't support these business practices. We are supporting a horrible system by allowing western sweatshop industry across the world, and not just through buying toys. i won't deny it.

I may not do anything about it.

(and that is so depressingly weak of me)

    BUT I WON'T DENY IT.

    I'm sorry, but I can't feel bad for people I don't know.

Make sure you don't buy any more Apple products either. Haven't you heard the horror stories about the FoxConn factories in China?

Face it. Most everything you buy these days probably came from a sweatshop in another country, made under horrible conditions by underpaid workers.
