what do you guys think? All three seasons in one box set?
I missed the DVD releases of the first two seasons but I loved this series, and I would love to be able to watch the entire run of the series on DVD.
what are your thoughts on this?

    Yes, yes they should.

But for all we know, it could still be in licensing limbo at this point, so until then, their hands are tied. Unfortunately, it might not make much business sense for them to spend the money fixing the licensing issue just so that a subcontractor (Im assuming shout would release it) could release a set that only a part of a subcommunity would be interested in (namely, us).

I feel like I've seen this a million times. That alone should signal to whoever owns rights(I'm pretty sure its Hasbro) to release it!!!!

Chances are they don't surf TFW.

You're probably right, but how would that tie into threads like this on TFW being reason enough to bring it out?

I see it as a tough call. Unless the other license holders relinquish their rights (and they have no reason to), Hasbro and/or Shout Factory would have to pay more to have access to it, which would increase the cost of the set in an age where DVD prices are needing to be more and more competitive, especially in niche markets like this one. It could be it's simply not financially feasible to do because of the complications involved. As much as we'd like to see it (and as many times as we hear "we're looking into it" or "we'd like to make it happen" on their part), it simply may not ever come together. Look at how long we've been waiting for an RiD set.

Maybe it would be cheaper to do in a digital format? Micropayments off itunes or whatever? But that carries with it its own set of issues.

Huh, well then they ought to hurry up with it.

I know right? If only the fans were in charge, none of this would ever happen. We're geniuses!

Yes the should, and they should work with Saban or Disney ( which ever one owns it) to get RID released on DVD

i want to say i read Saban bought the rights back for RID and all their other shows when they got power rangers back, but so far i can't find that report, so until we hear otherwise to my knowledge Disney still has the rights

I'm sure Saban got the rights back for RID as well, Guard Convoy. It's just a matter of time before Hasbro and Shout! Factory announce DVD releases for both RID and Animated. Maybe we'll hear something at San Diego Comic Con later this year, who knows.

If you're thinking about investing in something targeted towards Transformers fans, wouldn't it make sense to at least consider taking a look at websites consisting of the target group. I've heard that TFW is pretty well known among Transformers producers, writers, etc.

    Let's put it on Netflix.

Didn't Hasbro do that because the basic market for G1 and Beast Wars DVDs has basically been wrung dry? I mean, there's barely anything to gain from those DVDs being produced anymore.

I was referring to the licenseholders, not the guys who'd be putting out DVDs (say, Shout Factory). I'm pretty sure Shout Factory keeps its finger on the pulse of things as far as trends are concerned, but cash is king, and they can only do so much each year.
