In the 33-year-long history of the franchise, the only 3 series that objectively didn't suck were Beast Wars (which was set in G1 continuity), Animated (which was a G1 re-imagining), and Prime (which borrowed heavily from G1). Of the 3, it took me years before I gave BW and Animated chance due to the designs I didn't like, and I have yet to watch Prime because I didn't enjoy the first episode. But there is a pattern - all three were grittier, character-focused, and with a tight plot and good writing. As long as Cyberverse sticks to that formula, it can be a straight-out retelling of G1.

We've haven't had a show go back to G1 since Beast Wars/Machines. We've had 18 years of actual new stuff to go on now. Stop whining.

Thing is - why can't it ALL be new stuff? Why do we have to go back?

They will finally let the good old Aligned continuity Rest In Peace and will stop humping its poor broken body?
    YES.
And they will remake the G1?
    ABSOLUTELY YES.

What hell of a big hype do I feel, boiiiiiiiiiiiii.

I wonder if we'll get the classic voice actors.

I hope they get some. I'm pretty sure Cullen is a lock for Prime at least.

Hmmm, I'm cautiously optimistic! Mostly just glad we aren't tied into the aligned universe anymore. It's hard to gauge anything beyond that until we learn more details, but I'm willing to give it a fair shake. Hopefully we'll see a nice spread of mainstay Decepticons that actually get toys, though I suppose that last bit isn't the fault of the people making the shows. Also hoping we get more than just two reoccurring lady Transformers/some lady Decepticons.

    TTG is wonderful.
If some people lack sense of humor it's not the show's fault

If they don't get Frank Welker to voice Megatron, I hope they can somehow get Fred Tatasciore back. I freaking loved the WFC/FOC voice for Megatron! :D

Character-focused? I wonder if it will be a lot like Season 2 of the original cartoon, where many new toys got episodes spotlighting them. I don't have a problem with that, because I actually enjoy a lot of those robots and episodes, certainly much more than the repetitive battles over Energon before them in the cartoon.

    1984 thru 2000 was G1 & its sequel shows.
2001 thru 2017 is your new cartoon stuff.
2007 thru 2017 is your new movie stuff.

Guess what toys sell best right now? The new cartoon stuff? Nope.

The new movie stuff? Wrong again.

It's the toys based on product not seen on toy shelves since 1987 and 1988. It's not a conspiracy to deprive you of a new Armada Hot Shot or a line of Animated Sari dolls. G1 just sells better to fans and to little kids. Follow the money.

"Objectively didn't suck" and "Prime" do not go in the same line. Badly written and devised, works well only as good bait to see who is a brainless bloodthirsty geek and who has some form of self-awareness.

Either way, Cyberverse sounds interesting already! Can't wait to see it.

There's going to be a time when G1 stuff is going to wear thin though. There's only so many times you can show G1 love to people before it gets stale. I hope Hasbro understands that because if it starts to focus on nothing but G1 all the way it'll only end up hurting them more in the long run.
