Hasbro posts 1Q loss, revenue declines - Boston.com

Glad to see Kre-O is doing well. I feared it might become another dud going up against giants like LEGO and Mega Bloks. Also nice that Transformers Rescue Bots is helping the Playskool Heroes brand. Surprised to see Marvel as a big seller since I see most stores always have the same old stock and much of it's movie-based product ends up on heavy clearance.

That's really good news for KRE-O. All and all, typical first quarter returns.

That 14 percent overseas revenue increase certainly explains Hasbro Asia's more aggressive push as of late.

And the significant jump in entertainment/licensing revenue seems to be falling nicely into Hasbro's long-term plans.

Unfortunate but understandable news given what's happened over the last quarter.

Sounds like it's time to drop the goddamn MLP. Good riddance.

Hasbro, if you cancel MLP I promise I will buy a TF repaint that I wouldn't have before. Do it.

perhaps actually having product on store shelfs and pegs would have helped Hasbro's numbers. For weeks most of the Targets & walmarts here in RI (supposed home of Hasbro) have had nothing but empty shelfs and pegs. anything that is on a peg is a bumblebee.

Yes, because one person buying one repaint is going to make HASBRO drop an entire brand. [/sarcasm] :D

I noticed that as well. :lol

Yus, because the reason that Hasbro has posted losses this quarter is due to a few thousand male fans of My Little Pony and is in no way part of this toy company's strategy...

    ...oh wait, it was.

Especially since Hasbro doesn't even see any of MMM's money, because Hasbro probably got their payment from Wal-Mart or whatever months ago, when WM ordered the toys in the first place.

It's like saying "Hey Hasbro, I'll give Wal-Mart a fiver if you do me a favour and cancel a multi-million dollar revenue stream!".

I'd actually pay to see a Hasbro rep's reaction :D  (if they'd pay him any heed at all in the first place).

Yes, I'm serious when I ask Hasbro to drop an entire brand for me to get my paltry $10 for some shitty repaint. Totally serious.

It's a no-brainer since they do what I want at all times. All I have to do is ask, they listen.

That would be a retailer decision, not a Hasbro one.
