which is better the takara or the hasbro release. i'm thinking about buying one but not sure. which do you think is better, does one have better QC issues than the other, anything that might define which is better.

Well, the US one doesn't have a trailer and does have the Targetmaster, so those are pretty major differences. Not to mention the price difference. I'm not a big fan of the trailer, so I'd say go Hasbro.

TakaraTomy one is much better. Though be sure to get the Version 2 one.

I think the Hasbro deco looks dreadful, but I don't like the idea of shelling out twice-three times the cost of the US one for the better paint job just to also inherit the pointless trailer and the QC issues. My answer: don't buy either.

They're both flawed. Wait for Rodimus 2.0 in about 10 years. :)

If I ever decide to get MP Roddy, I'd get the US version.

They are both flawed. It comes down to if you want the trailer. I got one Takara Rodimus when it was ~$200 and now another 2xHasbro Rodimus for ~$60 each. I like the Hasbro colours best but the grey plastic they use on the face looks wrong.

If I have to call it I vote Takara.

It all depends on what you prefer with color schemes and if a trailer is worth paying the extra money. The Takara version 2 seemed to have fix most of the QC issues in the first release. I own all three so I would say only the first release of Takara had bad QC issues.

I own both of TT's Rodimus figures and they are fantastic. Now, I don't think the Hasbro figure is bad, but I just hate some of the color choices they made.

What is up with the Silver/grey face?

I like it! It reminds me of the original figure, whereas the takara/tomy version is obviously based on the movie design.

Hot Rod is one of my favourite characters. Rodimus Prime is one of my least. So between that, and the price point, I went with the Hasbro one. Having said that, I wish I had a Takara 2.0 one. It has a better paint application.

For me, it boiled down to do I want to spend an extra $140+ for a better looking chest, and I didn’t.

I picked up the TRU version for $$$'s sake, but if your will to spend a lil dough I'd go for the Takara version. Much better paint job IMO and you may be losing out on Offshoot but keep in mind your getting the trailer.

Do you have the money to buy a Takara Rodimus v2?
    If no, there's your answer.
If yes, would you rather have Rodimus Prime or Targetmaster Hot Rod?
If Targetmaster Hot Rod, there's your answer.
If Rodimus Prime, do you want him enough to spend another $170 (or so) on him?
    If yes, there's your answer.
    If no, there's your answer.

Both are gorgeous. Neither is perfect.

If you can at all afford it, get the Takara version.
I would settle for the V1 Takara over the TRU version, purely because it looks so much better. It really feels like it's worth twice the price of the TRU for sure. The TRU deco really looks cheap.
And for the record, it's FIREBOLT dammit, not OFFSHOOT, ARE YOU LISTENING HASBRO!
