the figure looks more like G-1 galvatron in both modes. than it does G-1 megatron. As the design is more rounded off in the parts. the alt mode looks like a flying laser canon.

 

Galvatron wasn't in Animated, so it wouldn't have made any sense to do that (at least from Hasbro's point of view).

 

But Shadow Blade Megatron was released and it wasn't in the show.

 

Shadow Blade Megatron is not an entirely new character.

 

Also who would pay leader class prices for a slightly purpled voyager Megatron?

I'm still waiting for a megatron that actually has an alt mode beyond fold me over and squint to possibly see a plane-thingy-tank-watchmacallit. I'm glad they didn't redeco it as Galvatron.

 

i would only buy that megatron-repaint for completeist sake (thank god my little bro bought the megatron release so i didn't need too)

the mold is a pile of shit, the deluxe is SOOOO much better minus the whole floppy legs issue (which is fixable)

so i am glad there was no galvatron repaint

 

A great many share this same sentiment and are turned off by that voyager Megatron mold, so I didn't see it getting a repaint anyways.

Also, Shadow Blade Megatron, while being a completely different toy, is pretty awesome in his own right as well, since SB Megs was mentioned as well in this thread.

 

don't know, i am not too big of a fan of galvatron just being a repaint of megatron.

i'd much rather that "third" triple changer megatron mold be repainted as galvatron, anyways. you know the one that turned into a tank?

Nope I don't like the idea of Megatron getting recolored into Galvatron in Animated.

I LOVE the leader Megs mold and am completely meh on the voyager mold. The deluxe is also ok.
But as others have said, if we had've gotten an Animated Galvatron, it should not be just a Megatron repaint.
I would also expand that to all TF toy lines. It's like I don't want Cliffjumper to constantly be Bumblebee repainted (often with the same head!) or Ultra Magnus to just be a white Prime.

 

Galvatron repaints, like Ultra Magnus repaints, would rub me the wrong way.

Recoloring Megatron isn't enough.

 

It wouldn't have been a "golden chance" IMO, as Galvatron wasn't in the show, and the demographic Animated was pitched at wouldn't remember him from G1 or even the Unicron trilogy. Not to mention that the Voyager mould is complete arse.

In Season 4 Galvatron was going to make his appearance.

 

As far as I'm concerned, TFA Shadow Blade Megs is TFA Galvatron.

 

Voyager Meges sucks as a mold.

 

Hasbro put out figures/repaints that never appeared on the show, (Elite Guard Bumblebee?) while not putting out other figures that WERE on the show (still waiting on that Wasp fig). And some others just made no sense to me (there's an Oil Slick figure and he got how many seconds of screen time?).

I picked up the entire Animated run except Oil Slick and Voyager Megatron. Voy Megs looked too much like the deluxe figure just bigger and crappy so I was never inclined to. But I can see myself picking it up if it had a purple repaint and maybe had a new head mold.
