When was the last time Hasbro did an honest to goodness transformer mail away for an exclusive figure (transforming figure in deluxe or scout size)? I'd love it if they brought those exclusives back as it makes the collecting more fun (but please God no more repaints and redecos). Also talking about the buy 5 figures, send in upcs and shipping. Not the send 20 bucks and get figure like Matty club.

Recon Ravage from ROTF. you had to collect little auytobot symbols out of packs and send em in with a form from a multi pack

    Ravage (2010) - Decepticon - www.tfu.info

Takara is always doing mail always and special stuff though

Recon Ravage during the later part of the ROTF line. Then they went and sold it at mass retail in massive numbers all over Canada. They mostly do mailaways for Star Wars figs nowadays.

Well the sad thing is, Hasbro could do those old mail away exclusives like the Omnibots and Reflector because they didn't have any design or mold costs involved. They basically just took the figure from Japan and repackaged it. For them to do an entirely new figure for a mail away might be asking to much, given that TF isn't even the toyline it used to be back during G1 days. Most figures in Japan are actually repaints/redecoes, except they do a really good job with them :)

Wouldn't that be something if they still honored them?

Imagine if Robot points actually did make a comeback.

I remember McFarlane doing something similar with their Halo points for their Halo 3 figures where you collect a certain number of points for a certain thing you would order online and send in all those cutouts from packets of the points.

I would love to have Hasbro do something like that. Something like a weapons pack or even a repaint would be fine. I buy enough Transformers and if they had robot points and giveaways, I would already be sending away for stuff. The t-shirt and Kreon, probably not so much.

What are the odds of Hasbro having a few leftover Reflectors or Omnibots lying around the office?

the idea sounds possible. Hasbro could create a website and make possible to collect points through their store , buying a figure/Hasbro made product at retail(codes on the products) ,or play a daily game to get points. The site would not only have exclusives but also discontinued figures and reissues.

It would be a good way to sell off excess stock where you may just be lucky enough to get what your looking for.

I think if they made a comeback, they should be a slip in the box, not the UPC. Cause I would hate to cut up my card backs.

Why did they even do G2 robot points? They were never used for anything.

I want them to bring back the robot points and money mail-away for a figure that's not available at retail, like G1 Reflector.

neither was the expansion port on the nes. Reasoning behind both...."just in case".

It would be a good way to get rid of some excess dead stock. Send in so many points & some cash for s/h and get a deluxe figure free. Wouldnt be a current figure. Probably from the last line or first waves. Depending on what they have dead stock, it could have several size classes. 4 points gets a scout, 8 gets deluze, 12 gets voyager, 24 gets a leader.

It could be a great way for Hasbro to get items sold that stores didn't want. For example, the Animated Rodimus wave turned into an exclusive because other stores didn't want them. So for figures stores don't want, sell them as a mail away. These would have to be already produced figures that were sitting in a warehouse, not a new run of toys.
