It's not a reboot, as I've pointed out before. So let's make sure the reboot happens and send this offensive universe to the grave it has always deserved.

"It's not us! It's the consumers fault for not seeing TF5! If the Bee movie fails it's on you guys. *points at computer screens of a fan forum*"

The fact a trailer has not come out yet before the movie's release in December this year shows how much faith they have in the supposed "changes."

So it's not a reboot but it's not in the current universe either...

    Uh, what?

Saying officially that this should not be considered a "reboot" gives me hope that the final film will happen. Im dying to find out what direction they want to go with Unicron. Im so sick of "bad film" comments. This movie series got me back i to collecting 10 years ago. If it wasnt for Micheal Bay I wouldnt have even known CHUG or MP existed because his movies re-opened the doors to my childhood memories. For that alone, I have nothing but respect for the series as a whole. Its not G1, and its not a book either. Its just a fun series. People try act all grown up whenever they criticize Bays movies. They forget its supposed to be fun...

See, when he says "a different chronology" what WE hear is "a different timeline," aka a different continuity, aka a reboot. But what he obviously MEANS by that is, "it doesn't chronologically follow on from the end of TLK, it's set in the past," aka nothing we didn't know already.

    Well now I'm really confused...

Also, "A different chronology" sure does sound like a different timeline. I'm literally just gonna add this quote to my ideas that they will start back over, but in the same universe, and through Timey-Wimey shenanigans, changed a bunch of things in the current Movieverse.

I'm not saying I like Bayformers but I appreciate what it added to the Transformers mythos and how it basically helped save the brand

Translation: We're doing Bumblebee stuff through next year. Don't look for any new announcements regarding movies until after that.

Translation: We're not going to continue the storyline from TF 1-5 movies.

Translation: Bumblebee is probably the end of the Bayverse but we might continue the BB story if it's successful. We just don't know until we see the response to the new movie, which means no movie in 2019.

Translation: Steven Speilberg's influence on the first movie was felt by making a movie about relationships. Without Stephen, Michael just made action movies that weren't connecting with the audience like Transformers 1 did. We want to make more movies like Transformers 1.

Translation: It's set in a different time so that makes it different from the other movies. Literally...that's all that means.

Translation: We're trying our hardest to cash on people's love of Bay movies AND the current 80's nostalgia wave. If a reboot comes from that, then whatever...we just want your money.

He's not bashing the Live-Action Movies with every excuse possible in a thread about the Live-Action Movies. That's the toxicity he's talking about.

Wouldn't saying this is a reboot more or less admit the previous movies weren't good enough to continue?
I think that is why the word won't ever be used in an official way.

It'll be like what Paramount did with Terminator Genisys, where Barricade is sent back in time to the 1980s to prevent the Michael Bay movies from happening!

Which will lead to an alternate chronology of films that they end up cancelling.

    Oh my god.

This is not a hard concept to follow.

It’s everyone and their differing interpretations of what they think does and doesn’t qualify as a ‘reboot’.

Bay stuff (done) New stuff (if successful)
    \ /
    Bumblebee

(EDIT: This is supposed to be a V diagram with Bee at the bottom. Apparently it didn’t work...)

    It’s really that simple.

    Call it a reboot.
    Call it a soft reboot.
Call it a sandwich, whatever you want.

A sequel to The Last Knight is [more than likely] never happening. They’ve made it very clear that this is a telling new stories in a new direction. It’s doubtful that any events of the Bay movies will have any bearing on this whatsoever, let alone even be mentioned.

They (Hasbro/Paramount) are beating around the bush because they don’t want to come straight out and say ‘Yeah I guess these movies weren’t very good, so we are going to basically start over but keep some of the things we liked.’ ...Hence why they’ve clearly plucked elements like Sector 7.

Some of the reasoning I see in the other threads is just baffling. ‘This movie will have a bad script because Bumblebee’s face looks the same. So that means it’s not a reboot or a new story.’

    Right. Solid logic there.

These Bay designs have been around for over a decade now. Did people REALLY expect a hard left turn to the designs so suddenly? Be realistic. They are going to have to evolve over time. Which is apparently exactly what they’ve done. According to @SilverOptimus and other people who saw early footage.

A movie getting a trailer 6 months before release is pretty common. Only a handful of movies get trailers 8 months or a year before, and that's usually Star Wars or Marvel. Even Infinity war didn't get a trailer more than 6 months before the movie.

Age of Extinction got a trailer 4 months before release, and that made a billion dollars.
