Fun Pub, yes.
And the fact that hasbro had a presence at botcon prior to it becoming official makes it clear that it doesn't matter wether or not the convention is official, hasbro will show up to what they want
I'll believe that when Hasbro shows up at an unofficial convention in the modern era. Times have changed.
(And don't act like that was the only thing I said)
Remember that the whole point of Hascon is to appeal to ALL Hasbro's fanbases at once. People from many fandoms know who Chewbacca Mom is, while people outside the TF fandom won't have heard of / wouldn't be interested in Transformers Youtubers.
I'm not saying I think Chewbacca Mom is an amazingly awesome guest . . . I too am scratching my head over her inclusion . . . but I think Hasbro's perspective is "WELP, people have heard of her. Good enough!"
I have no clue who she is.
where exactly did I say or act like that was the only thing you said? Technically hasbro does show up at "unofficial" conventions with transformers product, that's basically what sdcc is for transformers. To be entirely honest the franchise is not really in need of a dedicated convention
She was as widely addressed on news/chat shows as any Internet video "celebrity". Not every single person knows her but it's not like she had only 26 views...
Not saying she's necessarily a draw for anyone, but just that it makes *a little* sense to have her.
You ignored what I said about the inclusion of Hasbro-made exclusive TF product entirely, although we can grandfather that in via your mention here of SDCC (not a TF convention at all).
Yes, Hasbro shows up at non-Hasbro conventions. Not a lot of them. But they exist. Conventions so large and/or so important that they can't be ignored. None are TF-specific, which matters to me (if it didn't, HasCon would be enough), but it's a fair thing to point out, so far as it goes.
Perhaps someday an unofficial TF convention can get such attention again. It's not impossible. Until it happens, however, the fandom will be missing an important part of what it once had. HasCon is not, nor does it even attempt to be, a substitute.
Looks like TFCon has to hold the line for now.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. TFCon seems to have made a name for itself.
I certainly agree that it's the best hope for the time being.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Hasbro used to make it to TFCon Canada. Then they stopped. I wonder why.
I think it was because of the proliferation of unofficial product, and especially the Third Party panel. That's likely why Hasbro won't have a presence at any unofficial TF convention ever again.
And having said that, when Hasbro did appear at TFCon, it was only Hasbro Canada, and there were never any product reveals.
The "I wonder why" was sarcasm lol
That said, I remember there being a first time hands on experiencing with the First Edition deluxe Optimus and Megatron from TFPrime one year...
I've heard about hands on stuff a few times. I think there was a TFCon that had a first time hands on with Universe Ironhide.
Chewbacca's mom is gonna be there?
I'm like crying. My husband just bought tickets and I was so excited to see Cullen and Welker. Then I saw in their FAQ that only the 1st 60 people get an autograph. SERIOUSLY?! I mean I know they were only signing an hour, but they can certainly do more than 1 person a minute. 15 seconds is enough to say "hi how are you?" and sign something. Total bummer. Looking forward to TFCON at least.
Wait what? Lol
60 person limit? At least you'll have a fair crack at Chewbacca Mom's autograph.
With the number of people seemingly going to this, you'll probably have a fair shot with a 60 person limit! This sounds like an overpriced FandomFest!
