Had a great time spreading the word about #HASCON at the Bristol, RI 4th of July parade yesterday!

Man, I play D&D and collect TF and MLP, and I'm still not interested in Hascon. It seems like they've carefully put together a con that will satisfy nobody. It's too expensive. And on the MLP side of things, they're replacing an 'all generations' event (that had a heavy G1 focus) with 'G4-only events' and priced out all the previous MLP vendors. As for the people who are only fans of the current show, I predict they will just go to one of the many, cheaper brony-ish conventions instead.

As for NERF and Play-Doh--I played with those growing up, as did a lot of people. But are they really the type of properties that people go to conventions for? I mean, there aren't really any characters associated with them. They're like water balloons--fun to play with, but what else can you say about them?

I think anyone expecting Hasbro to set up anything related to past Hasbro properties--Jem, M.A.S.K., Moondreamers, etc--is deluding themselves. This isn't about celebrating their history as a toy company, it's about promoting their current toylines. It's a marketing event.

Well it's a good thing I'm not going.

    Seems a bit expensive.

I doubt I can talk anyone into selling Fort Max for $60. It's a bit of a stretch. If a seller bothers to lug something that big, you know they expect a bigger profit than $10 or so, right? :D

But I get your meaning! :thumb  You've described one of many scenarios. What if I'm concerned about the QC of Fort Max? Do I get a better deal paying $100 at Joe Doke's booth or should I go with BBTS, who provide actual customer service? :)  I guess the middle ground is to get Joe's home address or phone number? :D

It's not a strong argument on my part (because price is always king), but there are some folks who prefer to shop at a trusted shop. And at $1000 per table, I'd be pretty shocked to see anyone sell a Fort Max (or anything) low enough to really compete with the bigger shops.

Seriously, that cost for tables is targeted at a completely different type of dealer than Botcon was. Hascon dealers will be paying for promotion as much as they are paying for the space. That means non-professional, collector-dealers like me, who don't have a website or store to promote, can't afford to be there.

Anyone expecting a Botcon-style dealer room will probably be very disappointed.

The only thing that interests me is what's going to be shown from the vault, otherwise still a hard pass.

Hmm, wonder if they will be an exclusive Trypticon or a Joe/TF Crossover at HASCON since it doesn't look like they will be one at SDCC.

Maybe not a big shop or seller but you go to some of the sell groups on Facebook you can get one for $70 probably talk em down to $60. Just offering an alternative for folks that can't go or in the market for one. I agree with both of you though
