Has the economy affected your Transformers buying?

Chances are a lot of us here have been in a bit of a slump with the economy still in a crummy state. With saving money being a really big issue with those of us in a financial bind, has it affected your Transformers hobby any?

As for myself I've been buying less Transformers, maybe only one or two purchases a month, if any at all, and as a result I've also become far more picky about the toys I buy. My collection has hardly grown for the past year or two, but overall I feel that my display has a great variety of excellent figures- quality over quantity!

I've actually been buying more Transformers since I lost my job last October. I still keep my priorities straight (rent, bills, car, etc.), I've had more surplus cash as I spend less on gas and fast food.

But one thing I've done to keep myself in check is focus my collection. Classics/Henkei, G1 Optimus, G1 Starscream. That's it, aside from the kitbash stuff. But I go for those if I've got anything to spare.

Well, my family's financial situation just took a lousy turn (I guess it was a bad time for my mom to kick my dad out of the house, ha ha), so I'm going to make 1 more purchase on the Junkion exchange, and then focus on Alternity and store exclusives (the stuff that's going to be more of a bitch to get on the secondary market for a reasonable price), with maybe a few new-mold (DLX Ironhide, LDR Starscream, HAs in general) impulse buys here and there, until my income gets more than $45 a week.

Actually, Hasbro raising their prices affected my buying.

That's me too. I'm definitely much more selective now than I used to be. Instead of buying meaningless ROTF repaints, I'm paying higher prices for G1s & newer stuff like USB Hub Blaster. It's not like I'm spending less now or anything like that... :lol

I've been fortunate in that the only way the economy affected me was that it delayed a decent raise at work; it just kicked in recently, however, so I've been on a buying spree lately, buying some expensive crap to finish off the last outstanding items I want while saving the rest of my spending money to cover preorders/future releases and Comicon in July.

It just hit me because my girlfriend is now counting on me to pay all the rent/bills....... I have a feeling the number of packages coming to my apartment is going to dry up soon.

I've bought/spent a fraction of what I did last year.

This year I've finished paying a loan off, stopped deposits into a savings account, hardly bought any TFs and STILL I'm worse off than last year. Everything just seems to be so much more damn expensive these days. Food and petrol costs are killing me.

Now I'm selling off parts of my collection to help me out.

    Not good.

I've been buying a lot more, because not only did I get a payrise this year but the economic downturn did wonders for the exchange rate here.

No, the only thing that has hindered my purchases is that there is NOTHING to buy!

Nope, have one full time and one part-time job. Both pay well. Hope it stays that way. Anyway, I have enough computer skills to find other work if I have to. I am however giving up some third-party stuff to easily afford Botcon 2010. :D

I noticed there are a lot more sales at the various retail stores around here, like Walmart, TRU, and Zellers. So its caused me to not buy figures when they first show up, as I can easily save a lot by just being patient.

I'm still on the same track record of buying as I have been. I buy something if I see something new. One thing is that I don't buy the expensive aftermarket tf's.

Personally the economy has had no effect on my Transformers buying. (I don't really care for the movie figures and that's had the biggest effect making me not buy. Bring on the new stuff!)
