So Harry Potter 6 finally made more money than Transformers 2. No surprise, I think that it's because the alpha-male sci-fi rednecks like us that drove Transformers 2 to box-office stardom are more concentrated in the United States than the planet Earth as a whole, where people are... umm, less trashy... in their tastes. In other words, Transformers is still way, way ahead of Harry in our glorious nation thanks to us geeks.

I saw both movies twice. I loved ROTF, and I like Harry Potter in general, but I found the new Harry to be quite boring. It had a thin plot (how ironic), and had more teen soap-opera romance than action. Plus Lord Awesomemort didn't even appear in it! >.<

 

Okay...

Not a big deal, it was going to happen. Harry Potter is always big worldwide.

 

I thought the new harry potter was ALOt better than ROTF, even though im not a harry potter fan. ROTF was a failure for a movie. HP6 actually had a good plot, and some funny moments, both things ROTF completely lacked.

 

And ROTf is only popular in the U.S. because it is a senseless action movie thats supposed to distract the audience from the terrible plot with massive explosions and megan fox.

 

Truth be told although I enjoyed Half Blood Prince more than Revenge of the Fallen I did not expect this to happen. How very odd.

 

That was expect, Harry is always big worldwide.

 

So that means Harry Potter 6 is better than ROTF, right?

EXCEPT IN USA! When you talk about it in USA you gotta say that ROTF is better.

 

Yes. By the logic of "the film made a lot of money, therefore it is good," Harry Potter is better than ROTF, except in America. It's nice that we finally have a simple way of determining exactly how good something is. Ooh, maybe we can get the figures together and work out if curry is better than fish and chips?

"Better" is a matter of opinion. I personally found ROTF to be better. I was expecting this too, though it would surprise me if HP6 outgrossed ROTF in the US. It's just like in 2005 when HP5 outgrossed Star Wars 3 outside the US (no offense to you Darth, but ROTS was a piece of crap and I actually enjoyed Harry Potter 4 more than both ROTS and HP6).

Just because it did better overseas which i could care less about doesnt make it a good movie. Hell Backstreet boys and NSYNC sold millions of albums does that make them good??? I only care what happens in the US and that makes ROTF a better movie. But that is my opinion. Im sure ppl overseas see it diffrent and thats fine.
