well back in the year 1836 us Texans declared independance from Mexico
TEXAS TEXAS TEXAS!
What he said
Only to join the Union nine years later. Congrats on that Independence
Alright, but did everyone vote today? Don't forget!
*reads post and slams fist on keyboard*
and i just turned 18 so i could......GRRRRAAAAAAHHH (no talking about voting and stuff for now on, we don't need this thread closed)
shame on you lol. You just turned 18? Congratulations man! Its funny, I would have completely forgot to vote too but I mailed some packages earlier and saw the sign.
On topic, i've been watching the news all day and not once has anyone mentioned Texas independence day. I've heard the Longhorns beat Oklahoma (big deal) in basketball but thats about it.
i forgot how i found out about it being today, it just happened haha...we got campain signs EVERYWHERE...can't believe i forgot
Ah man...you're missing me miss my home.....
That's our goal.
But yeah, while our Independance was short lived, it made for a symbolic joining of the union.
we do got the best state history though! if it wasn't for money issues we could still have been our own country, but oh well
We also have What-A-Burger.
BTW, did you know that some schools in other states actually teach Texas history?
Amazingly enough, the Cowboy stereotype is still around, Which I am kind of proud of and kind of hate. Some Canadian kids actually asked me if I was a cowboy while my Family was vacationing at the Atlanantis resort in the Bahamas.
haha, i didn't know that, that is wickid
and i will like to take this moment to thank Tennessee, our sister state, for their huge help in the Texas Revolution
Yeahhhh, that's highly highly debatable. Like Louisiana history, Texas has a rich history but best? Given that "best" is such a subjective word, I can think of several states that whose histories are much more interesting than Texas.
Yeah, it's called American History.
Yeah, well, WNY doesn't want you anyway!
Yeah but we can still cede when ever we want to ....right
Oh yeah, Happy Temporary Independence Day Texas.
As proud of my state I am, I would hate to see it cecede. Especially now, it'd just be stupid.
If you're going to use that sarcastic tone, why do you take the time to even reply?
It is quite funny as Canadians sometimes are asked if we live in Igloo's.
Apparently everyone is ignorant to the way that everyone else lives...
