DC Announces Hanna-Barbera Comics From Lee, Parker, Connor, Shaner & More | Comic Book Resources
Sounds like this has a lot of potential, so I hope it succeeds and is able to grow. Future Quest sounds interesting, but I kinda hope they eventually do a solo Space Ghost comic as well.
Oh, and I hope they add Thundarr to the roster eventually. While not created by HB, they did buy the company that did, and las I knew they still had the rights to the property.
Stuff like this also acts as a good intro to comic books for kids like my nephews, and in this case is something my father will be able to enjoy with them, as he grew up with a lot of the HB properties.
That Scooby Doo.... the heck are they smoking at DC?
Yeah, Future Quest, with Parker and Shaner, looks pretty awesome. I'm not sure about the others.
I'd like to see this HB line expand enough to include a Blue Falcon and Dynomutt comic, at some point.
I actually like the new Hipster Shaggy.
I always thought Shaggy would be a hipster in modern times and the look works for Matthew Lillard voice.
I think it's both absolutely terrible and freaking brilliant at the same time.
Just realized there were more images (website wouldn't load for me earlier). The art for the Flinstones seems a little odd, but I really like what they're showing off for Future Quest.
As for the gang... Fred, Daphne, and Scoob actually look pretty good, but... there are certainly elements of both Shaggy's and Velma's designs that... bother me... just a bit. Hipster would have been one thing but... wow... what kinda drugs is Shaggy into now?
As for Velma, she kinda reminds me of the costume designer from The Incredibles (whom I can't stand), and she looks like she might be ten, maybe 12 at the tops... Which wouldn't be an issue for me if the others didn't look like they were a solid ten or more years older...
I'm sure it's a book that will have an audience, I just don't think I'll be one of them. Hopefully this coming in won't cause them to stop the other two Scooby-Doo titles they've been doing.
I doubt they will, but I kinda wonder if they'll be treating this venture like an imprint (like Verigo), or if this will simply just be a sort of sub-sect/category of DC comics.
I give it a year before DC cancels all of this and moves on to the next big thing.
This. At any rate, I can't see it lasting any longer than Batman '66 did. (Of course, pretty much all the titles I've been reading from DC lately have never lasted long, so I can't say I'd be shocked.)
Where's Blue Falcon & Dynomutt at, though?
Honestly the best-worst idea I've seen DC come up with in a long time. Kinda hype.
Future Quest actually looks interesting, sure, it's riding on nostalgia like everything in this announcement, but it could be very fun.
Everything else... I don't care much for.
Why the hell are Jan and Jace (and Blip) colored completely wrong? That is irritating.
But hipster Shaggy is kind of funny. As misguided as that Scooby and Flintstones are.
These really ought to be minis to begin with anyway, just to judge the interest. If it's there, move to on-goings.
I don't like Shaggy, he was always more of a Stoner/lay about than someone who kept up with trends and stuff.
I'm deffo up for some Space Ghost though.
Speaking of Shaggy is it me or does his new beard and haircut remind me of Green Arrow if he lost weight?
I would be interested in Future Quest (Johnny Quest) but that's about it
It has the nostalgic feel to it, I remember watching these cartoons, a couple years ago the Boomerang channel
My fav was Johnny Quest
WonderCon: DC Comics Unveils First Look at Hanna-Barbera Comic Series | Comic Book Resources
This is Penelope Pitstop.
This is Dick Dastardly.
These are the Flintstones and Rubbles.
This is Space Ghost.
This is Johnny Quest.
This is Scooby-Doo.
The only ones that look great to me are Johnny Quest, Space Ghost and Scooby-Doo.
"Wacky Raceland" looks like Mad Max: Fury Road..for kids.
This explains so much.
I never thought I would ever say this, but... Dick Dastardly looks like an actual threat... I might have to pick up Wacky Race Land.
