sounds like you had a blast but its likely all down hill from there ( not sure as i have never been married and only lived with a girl once) and germans tend to be a bit more civil with there beer drinking as they hate wasting good beer

We did not. Not until the 25th wedding anniversary!

All downhill? I doubt it.  
Yes, my uncle and cousin that came for the wedding from Germany told me that too, Germans love their beer and want to enjoy it. The rabble is made up of a very small minority there.

Off on a tangent a little, they told me horrible stories from the Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich involving mostly Australians. Australian tourists that go there are under constant police observation as they are apparently the worst hooligans of the entire festival - they go to get drunk and be loose. The incidents involving Australian visitors (including grevious bodily harm, assault and attempted rape) to the Oktoberfest are more than triple the amount attributed to the Irish, who are next in line for rowdy behaviour. Not a good image for the number one tourist destination for Europeans.  
That said, there were a handful of decent Aussies that liked to hang with the Italians and Germans last year.
Apparently, many germans actually avoid the Oktoberfest Celebrations in Munich, preferring their local Inn or Community Hall over the over-commercialised, foreigner ridden hustle and bustle of the originating event.
Sad really, I'm ashamed that some of, more aptly most of, the Australians that go there are louts and hooligans. Not the impression I want my German rellies to have of Australians.
