Ok since i didnt see a thread on it Doom might as well start one.

DAMN that was good. Nice special effects (although the "let them fight in a darkened area" crap is getting annoying in these speceal effects-laden movies. ya think with the stuff they had in Jurassic Park and whatnot we could have a nice superhero brawl in the middle of the daylight)and a entertaining twist. I wish we could have seen the Rated-R version but hell ill snag that when it comes out on DVD this winter. Justin Bateman is still a damn good actor and its nice to see him with rolls again (loved him in Arrested Deveopment).

    MUST AVOID SPOILERS!

But I'm seeing this over the holiday weekend with the parents or my lil' friend (one gets Wanted, the other Hancock). Totally pumped about it.

Also, never seeing a Will Smith movie after this on account of a personal ban on financing his new friends.

^^^I'm guessing he's talking about the Church of Scientology.

For anyone either not planning on seeing the movie or just wants to read the full synopsis, here's the unreleased SPOILER from themoviespoiler.com:

    http://www.themoviespoiler.com/Spoilers/hancockex.html

Again, do NOT click on the link if you don't want to know what happens.

I might go see this only because I really want to. Looks good.

Yeah he is a CoS member now or at least a close friend.

I find it very interesting that the reviews are extremely polarized for this movie: Either they absolutely love it or think it's absolute crap.

Will Smith isn't a member of the CoS. He's friends with Tom Cruise, but he isn't a member of it. This has been confirmed nearly everywhere that has looked into it. To me, "Guilty By Association" is a daft way to condemn someone.

Hancock was a good movie. I recommend it.

Seeing this Friday or Saturday -- looks awesome.

The next few weeks look to be wall-to-wall WIN for movie releases: Hancock -> Hellboy II -> Dark Knight -> X-Files II -> Mummy III -- all in a row! Still need to fit Wanted (and maybe Journey to the Center of the Earth) in there somewhere.

Yeah, Will Smith is a good actor. I seem to enjoy most of his movies.

Don't listen to the reviews. It was a good movie. The 'twist' was a 100% surprise and the premise made plenty of sense and didn't break the 'one suspension of disbelief' rule.

Interesting? Not surprising to me, really. A lot of entertainment today seems to have gone beyond the gray area, where a certain movie, song, book, whatever had something for all to enjoy. Now is the time of it's a hit or it's a bomb, there's no inbetween anymore. The entertainment industry focuses too much on core audiences and fringes, but never the general public.

I want to see it, but it looks a bit like "rent only!" to me. I may be wrong on that one though, I might get coaxed into going to the drive in to see it.

I'm convinced as much as I can be without actually being able to ask him and get a honest answer.

And while he may not be an actual member, he's passing out flyers and starting a school that teaches like Hubbard woulda wanted. Supporting the organization in this fashion is enough for me to be uncomfortable sending him my money, even if he isn't a member.

Saw it, enjoyed it. Not the best, or even one of the best, films I've seen this year, but it was fun.

And yeah, the next several weeks are gonna be fucking awesome at the theaters.
