So obvious nominee #2 out of the way.
I'm glad they went largely with Comic-style Grimlock, as he's been a favorite of mine since Furman's Marvel stuff. Not that I don't also have a soft spot for stupid Toon Grimmy but since Hasbro's purposely not acknowledging the multiverse with these, if they had to go with just one Grimlock-type I'm glad it was this one (and it is the predominent portrayle at this point).
The only continuity bits of note here are that they went with "damaged vocal processors" over "faking it for the image" as an explanation for the cave-man speach. I'm ok with that. The bit about Skorponok specifically causing it is totally new I think. Traditionally Shockwave would have been the logical choice given his frequent conflicts with the Dinos. I wonder if it's a nod to Skorp being in the IDW Dinobot mini? (The only other connection I can think of between them is that they were kinda opossite numbers in the old Marvel Comic as Grimlock was the Autobot leader with Con tendencies and Skorpy was the Decepticon leader with Bot tendencies, but that's a bit of a stretch.)
-ZacWilliam, waiting for tomarrow as now the nominiees get at least a little more up in the air.
"If GRIMLOCK has a weakness, it is his larger than Prime ego and his lack of patience."
This sentence has so much fail.
Grimlock has my vote.
Looking at that picture, how would he scratch his nose?
The way the vote has gone in the recent poll, Soundwave is going to win the 5th spot. Too bad they don't use all the nominees from the last poll and enter them into the Hall of Fame, one at a time, once a month or so.
so far no surprises and all G1. i wonder if any non G1 will get nominated, 3 slots left open now, im guessing if we don't see a non G1 character in the next two nominees we won't get one this year.
"Me, Grimlock should lay off the Twinkies."
Fixed sorry could not resist
Okay, two big players revealed, who are the rest? This gets more and more exciting each day.
good, i like grimlock.
I kinda wish people would remember that Grimlock also had a noble side. Yeah, he's usually a big jerk who likes to smash things, but that's not all there is to him. At the end of the Marvel G1 run, Furman was playing Grimlock as a character who cared about his troops.
When he heard that Nucleon had strange side-effects, he agreed to take it himself before subjecting the other Autobots to it. When Prowl made bad decisions based on "logic," Grimlock was telling him he was doin it wrong, and Grimlock ended up being the correct one, logic be damned. So it turned out Grimlock was not only caring, but surprisingly smart!
And, if you take the Marvel run as one long story and ignore the fact that it was written by different people, then Budiansky's early characterization of Grimlock as an oaf, leading into Furman's characterization of Grimlock as a soldier who knows what he's doing for his people, really makes Grimlock look like the guy whose personality progressed the most.
But, these aspects of his character are often ignored in favor of his doofy cartoon personality, or his more grumpy personality. Which is sad, cos the reason he is such a memorable character is because of how dynamic his personality is, and the noble aspect is like the string that ties it all together.
Why do both Soundwave and Grimlock look like they are squeezing one out? and I always thought Grimlock was built on Earth
Exacto-mondo! Who wrote the bio anyway, Hasbro?
Yes!!!!!!! Well deserving. Hopefully Jazz is next.
Again, pretty expected. I really hope this Hall of Fame thing isn't just filled with completely obvious and expected characters.
Because it's DW art.
Really? Wow, just surprised there's a fan who doesn't know this... That was only in the old Cartoon, in pretty much everything else ever (including the original tech specs) he and the Dinobots are pre-existing TFs from Cybertron. And this bio is pretty much based on his more popular Comic book portrayls so it's not surprising that's what they stuck with.
No, that was the Constructicons. They were built on Earth by Megatron.
After they built Megatron on Cybertron.
Grimlock's awesome. I'm glad to see him nominated.
Yes, vote in the most overrated of Transformers, folks.
Separate names with a comma.
