I didn't even know he was sick. This one came out of nowhere.

It was 1984 or '85 when I got sucked into football. That makes me seven or eight at the time. Growin' up in California and Nevada, I STILL remember "The Genius" sendin' Montana and co. out onto the gridiron.

Walsh's 49ers are STILL the most remarkable football team I've ever seen on television.

I knew he had leukemia, so this doesn't necessarily come as a surprise; but it definitely leaves a sting to this lifelong Niners' fan.

    Rest in Peace, Coach.

My cousin had leukemia and died last year. Its one of the hardest cancers to make it through.
