Ugh. The more I hear about this movie, the more it sounds like trash. I WANT it to be good, but... I doubt it. People like shitting on TLK but at least I had fun watching that, even if it was a mess.

I hope she has a good song to sing.

 

Steinfeld is a good singer by modern standards but I hope they'll go with their own songs...

...because there's absolutely no way modern cover of a classic song will not come as terrible.

 

Dj Bumblebee?? Huh? Is this where the franchise is now jumping the shark?

 

Wow, this thread turned rather quickly.

Anyway, I'm actually pretty hopeful for this movie. I was with a lot of people who weren't really interested in an entire film about Bumblebee, but the more news I hear, the more hope I get. I can't believe only a few people actually think that the idea of them doing a duet is adorable.

I can see a scene where perhaps Bumblebee lost a battle and Steinfeld's character (keep forgetting her name) perhaps had one of her parents put in the hospital due to said battle, and Bee ends up singing a song trying to cheer her up. I usually don't prefer musicals, which is why I don't really watch many Disney movies now, but a single scene of the two singing could actually be adorable.

 

I eagerly await all the chart-topping hits, including (but not limited to) "Bumblebee is my Flashlight" and "Starving for Energon"

 

DJ Bumblebee? How fucking ridiculous! It's not like there were multiple G1 characters devoted to rocking out to music whenever they could and even danced with humans at a club. Nope, this is some new and shark-jumping shit.

Tennage pop music? I can't say this increases my excitement for the film. Then again, I wasn't excited.

It's becoming very clear that this project is aimed at the kids, i.e. demographically, the live action version of shows like Prime and RID, which also make Bumblebee the core protagonist. I might not be a huge fan of any of the live action movies, but at least TLK started getting a little darker. If they had changed the robot aesthetic I'd be more excited, despite all these other horrifying (IMO) announcements. They way it looks now, it's a kid movie with pre-teen pop and characters that look exactly like they did in the Bay movies. No thanks.

Here's to Sony Pictures, Harmony Gold, Andres Muscietti, the Argentine director of Stephen King's "It" (2017), and Jason Fuchs, the writer of Pan and Wonder Woman - May the new live action Robotech film show everyone how this kind of film can be done. Of course, Robotech also had much more involved and mature storylines and no robot personalities with which to contend.

 

That sure is a lot of speculation.

 

Oh my God, we started with powerful Linkin Park rock and finish with cute pop-singer girl! Say me that it's just a nightmare  I feel more and more that this film is not for me. I don't know much about 80s music (except of some famous Scorpions songs I like). I'm Y-generation and was born and grew in 90s. This movie will try to please kids and their X-generation parents (who was growing in 80s).

Are you kidding? TLK is unbearably light and fun comparing with other TF Movies!

 

I'll take something that sounds very 80's pop-y, but isn't a direct cover. Yes. This can and most likely will be great.

TLK was lighter than previous films but it had heavier moments too.
It's the Monthy Phyton and the holy grail of TF movies, but Isabella's situation and OP's brainwash are quite hardcore.

 

I don't think this is the same thing. Marvel and Star Wars maybe but Transformers movies are just as they always have been. We aren't taking about shallow characters that put diversity over development and exclusionary behavior by the writers that alienates long time fans by dismissing them or referring to them as scum ,we're talking about music simply because she's in the movie and it'll probably kick off her career or something Idk it's minor like that. Just thought I'd clarify. Idk if I'll listen to her though , I lIke all of the stars by kendrick Lamar and SZA I don't know if she sounds like that though.

 

This was announced right from the very beginning. I remember, because it was one of many things that made me roll my eyes about the whole movie, and specifically her casting. I said back in the announcement thread last year that I'm sure she had the whole "let me do the single" nonsense worked directly into her contract. All of these wannabe "double threats" do.

 

Robotech and mature storylines?
Sorry. I watched Macross a few years ago and I didn't come across any such lines.
A lot of Miss World election-style "war is evil" fluff, some "pacifists are assholes" nonsense, and a mandatory love triangle side story with a fighter ace hero who beats up the girl he rejects in the end and tells her: "You do what I say, bitch!"
About as mature as Prime.
