Hailee Steinfeld on Twitter
There is a little hint at the end of the tweet.
i wonder if ryan tedder will perform with her since he did some music for the movie as well
Hmm. Was hoping we'd stick to 80s music.
It mayBEE 80s styled
She indeed has something planned:
“The EMAs are a show where anything can happen,” said Steinfeld. “I can’t wait to host a night filled with incredible artists, performances, some surprises of my own – let’s do this, Bilbao!”
Hailee Steinfeld to host the 2018 MTV EMAs
Let me guess. Steinfeld is going to be revealed as secretly the world's tallest hobbit, Bilbao Baggins, and she's going to play some Shire-inspired music! And this will lead to a Lord of Transformer Rings Cinematic Universe!
November 4 cant come any faster
I'm really, really hoping it's '80s styled.
I get why Hailee's preforming since she's the lead actress (who happens to be a singer), but I'm not sure why she's collaborating with a guy from OneRepublic (who started his music career well after the '80s). Pretty much everything on his resume is very modern, he works with singers like Kelly Clarkson and Ed Sheeran.
It might make more sense for Hailee to collaborate with an actual '80s icon like Rick Astley or David Hasselhoff (like the song in GOTG 2)...or even Stan Bush (not just for Transformers reasons...he essentially still creates '80s-style music). It seems a bit weird that two modern 'hip' singers are preforming a song for a movie set in the '80s (a time period with very distinctive musical sounds).
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to hear it, just a bit nervous. I hope it's not some weird studio decision to make a relevant song that can be played on the radio and fit in with Hailee's next album. I feel like an '80s-style song needs to sound genuine...or have an over-the-top humor to it (like Guardians Inferno).
One thing that could work...maybe Ryan Tedder is playing a fictional '80s rock star in the movie. If that were the case, it would make sense because someone like Rick Astley would be too old for the role (unless they de-aged him, which probably wouldn't happen with this budget). I hope that's the case.
I want Jump by Van Halen plays
Lord of the Cogs!
Three cogs for Reflector, whose robots do spy,
Seven for Starscream's Ghost in his tomb of stone,
Nine for Dirge and Sweeps doomed to die,
One for the Dark Troll on his dark throne,
In the True Fan Forums where the neckbeards lie,
One cog to rule them all, one cog to find them,
One cog to bring them all and in the fandom bind them
In the True Fan Forums where the neckbeards lie
Perhaps a little too derivative of Tolkien, but I had to!
anyone have an idea when theyll released the song?
BW Megatron: "Yeees".
I hope that Hailee will sing your lyrics, and make her own music to it. She did say there would be surprises!
im still hoping they make an album
Well, the event happens on the 4th of November (which is about two and a half weeks away), so I'd think we'll hear it then.
Age of Extinction's credits song released a little less than a month before the movie. The Last Knight's credits song was revealed about half a month before the movie. If I had to take a guess, I'd say they might release the MP3 at some point in early/mid December. The official release date for the soundtrack is the 21st, but I could see the song dropping sooner. I'd love for them to release it at the same time as the live performance, simply because I prefer studio recordings of songs.
I would like for them to make one too, although there might not be much of a need for that if most of the songs are existing '80s songs. As I recall, there were a lot of songs written specifically for the soundtracks of the first three films (hence why they got albums).
If Hailee's is the only new song, it might just make more sense to put it on the soundtrack album with the instrumental score.
It's not a huge deal for me if they don't release one. Either way, I'll just add everything to a YouTube playlist and record it to a cassette tape.
