I walked out of my room to go to the restroom and I saw some crazy light coming from the living room, and there was sitting my Wii with its cool little blue light pulsating from time to time. I checked the AV channel and the system was still off. Is this its way of updating the news and weather sections and absorbing all the technology from our planet while we pathetic humans lay dormant, so that it could later take over the planet?

LOL -check your messages. Nintendo prolly sent you news of an update or something.

If you ask me, its an overdramatic use of that cool blue light.

its actually a "FIX" update...not bad. Still waiting for a Demo Channel and a Mii Channel update.

    But yeah, that's like 3x updates within a month....a new record ;P

Yeah I had that glowing blue light when I walked out to turn the lights off before going to sleep. I read on the nintendo forums that it glows when someone sends a message....usually Nintendo. I was thinking of just leaving it and letting it glow the whole night but with the warm weather and what not, the light would just keep the Wii hot. So I did the update to get rid of the blue light.

Very Very true. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure that my Wii wasn't turning out to be the Trapper Keeper from South Park, working through the night, absorbing a little bit of information from the pentagon every couple of minutes so as to not be detected. Who would notice or care what a harmless Nintendo system would be doing accessing those files? What harm could it possibly do? Until it was too late. Then one night, Blue LED lights would be swarming through our streets taking out anything resembling organic. And hence forth, Earth would be known as WiiWorld.

Last time I let it glow all night, the top of my Wii was warmer than normal. And I hadn't left it on or anything.

the light isnt the reason it got hot. it gets hot because it's using it's standby connection. if your Wii is online, I guarantee you the left side of it is going to be hot right now, if it's on or off.

My Wii is hot because it's getting radiated by my PS3 sitting right next to it.

My PS3 is right next to my Wii too, but I put it on the left side of it, so neither system gets hit by the heat from the other.
