anyways, my guess is that its a spark...looks just like what I'd imagine a spark to look like...same sort of color that came out of jazz when he was ripped in half

 

so the spark looks like a human face indeed (speculation below not spoiler )

I m thinking the base or as it says in the caption concealed bunker probably created by scorponok to house megatrons spark is where he may have housed all the sparks of dying decepticons while he was rebuilding them. I mean what else is there for Scoponok to do.

Now here is the easy part I bet you anything Sam screwed megatrons plan's of becoming completely allspark powered when he was in contact with the cube when it merged which is why instead it killed megs. This linked Sam's soul and megatrons spark together and the only way to revive him is retrieve the piece of megs spark that went to SAM ( hence the halucinations and what not ). So the hunt is to get Sam and like alot of articles say the deceps need him alive because if sam dies probably so does that piece of megs's spark and he can never be revived.

I think that does it up for a good portion of the plot right there. Its either that or that is trapped allspark energy being used to run a toaster.
