"In fact, for the first 10 minutes or so of the screening I found myself spellbound. But then, even in this limited timeframe, a phenomenon we'll call "Bay syndrome" began to kick in: I began to get really, really bored and pissed off."

    Uh oh...

Bumblebee transforming in slowmo to avoid collision? I'm already in love.

If it's the same thing we saw at the HOF event, it is probably one of the best pieces of work in this live-action franchise that I have seen, if not one of my favorite scenes of Transformers ever.

As opposed to biased reviews of Transformers fans.

For better or for worse, Bay's name is going to trigger certain preconceptions for people when they go in. Probably hard if not impossible to be objective.

I think there will be a lot of people with this opinion about Bay's movies. I think it's safe to say that the 3D will be worth the price of admission on this one for sure.

Article didn't seem biased at Bay but using the term "bay syndrome" suggests otherwise to some. However Ben Child was right in feeling concerned about the plot, citing RotF's short comings, while comparing the 30 minutes to it. After all, the footage was a collage of scenes meant to showcase the 3D, so its the same as taking all the best action scenes from any movie and pasting them together into one short film, makes sense he started getting annoyed but he seemed quite hopeful in the end of his article and I think he has some faith in it.

I think this bit had to be the best quote

"Despite the latest instalment of the series being about as enjoyable as a role in a real-life re-enactment of The Human Centipede"

For those who don't know the reference Google it

Hard to judge a movie as a whole based on only 20 minutes of footage.

... seemed like a pretty balanced assessment to me. They're quite clearly withholding judgment on the film as a whole at this stage, and just commenting on the quality of the visuals. To suggest that Bay has a reputation for making movies that are short on substance and heavy on brute spectacle is hardly a fringe or biased view. It's common knowledge, and some love him for doing just that.

Despite all the high praise for the 3D/VFX for this movie, I bet it doesn't even get an Oscar nomination for it. :lol

Some people have judged (damned) it based on a 2 minute commerical.

The fact that they felt like they had to ask the journalists not to comment on the story is just hilarious.

Well seeing as how the plot this time around contains a massive spoiler I don't blame them.

The way they said it though makes it come off as if the story's terrible.
