Those of you who actually still have their PSP... Has anyone got Vice City Stories?

I got it a few days ago and maybe I've got jaded views about the franchise, but.... As great as GTA games are, Vice City Stories brings nothing new to the game. Sure, new story, new characters, hilarious radio stations and fun army vehicles to drive in, but that's it. I've only played a few hours so far, so my opinions might change further down the road.

I think the franchse needs a breath of fresh air.

It was a tough call for me the other day at EB, but I went with Medal of Honor Heros instead...
Just not that big of a fan on GTA...

I'm debating whether or not to get this one, or wait for Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. I'll have to wait for more people to get them so I get a better idea of the better buy.

I absolutely can't wait for MGS Portable Ops! The MGS franchise always has something new and fresh with each new game they release.

What's the release date again? Early December?

I haven’t played this one but from Liberty City and what I have heard about Vice the PSP games seem to be stuck in the past. I really liked San Andreas, having three cities and all the country side in-between mixed with no restriction on where you could go made the game feel bigger. Unlike past games where you had to wait for the bridge to be repaired or whatever to go to the next part of the city.

SA restricts you in the beginning just like the other games. Hell, if you snuck into Vegas early you instantly get a massive wanted level and get killed. Anyway, I got VCS and I'm about 20% into it. It's just more of the same, nothing to really get excited about. I only got it because I liked Vice City as a world better than Liberty City. The Empire system pisses me off, but other than that it's ok. I am bored with it already though.

Even though they said they weren't doing that this time, I also don't believe them. If no one buys it on PSP, they'll want to recoup their investment and port it to a system where it will sell.

I really, really enjoyed Vice City the first time though and wish that Vice City stories and Liberty City Stories were playable on the PS2. I get attached to a game universe easily, and those were fun universes in which to play around - Vice City, especially.

How much gameplay is there? Like, enough to last several weeks/months, or is it the PSP equivalent of like a 5-mission "expansion pack?"

The best part is that Phil Collins is in it.

I'm not sure. GTA Liberty City Stories took 10-12 hours to complete, so I'd expect that much from VCS.

Saw it today, but the price just drove me off. :/

I'd love to have portable GTA, but not for over 50 bucks CDN.

Yeah, early December. Around the 12th or something, I think. I absolutely cannot wait for it. Its the sole reason why I'm going to buy a PSP. MGS owns me too much.

I didn't pick it up not only for money reasons but Liberty City wasn't that great IMO. However I LOVED Vice City the best out of all GTA games thus far so I might get this when I have a few extra bucks and it goes down in price.

But at the rate PSP games are going down, that may be 2010

Not going to pick up any games until homebrew is available on the firmware. Im at 2.71, and sadly GTA:VCS requires 2.81 :(  I'll bet MGS:p O will require an even higher firmware. So I wont be picking up MGS for PSP either. Big shame too. I'd totally buy MGS, and maybe even VCS, but I've got a file assistant app on the PSP that I simply cant live without.

VCS ships with 2.81, but it doesn't require it. Running it straight from the UMD kinda does, but you can get around that as well. My PsP is 2.71 and I'm playing it.
