I just broke him! Right out of the package. I just bought the Bumblebee/Barricade two pack like two hours ago. The small tab at the base of BB's neck broke off, destroying any chance of converting BB back to vehicle mode. The makes me soo mad. I haven't broken a Transformer in years and now this happens.
At least I still have Barricade. He's pretty cool. I mean he's got that creepy bug face thing going on, but other than that he's cool.

And most single Bumblebees too. I was lucky enough to get one that didn;t break, but there's several threads about the problem. That's something QC should have picked up on before the toy was ever mass produced. It's such a pity since Bumblebee is a great toy too.

I don't have any problem with mine. Of course, I'm rather ginger with all the movie toys. So many thin pieces of plastic... @_@

Man, I'm worried. So far I've no problem with movie bumblebee but how did you broke him? Any you give a description? Kinda worried as I have yet to break a single TF while transforming them.

Eh, mine's fine, but I'm rather gentle with my TFs the first time out of package until I get a feal for them. Still, I almost broke mine because I almost pulled the car front down without pressing the button. However, I was lucky that my hood was so tight that it wouldn't come down manually and I had to look at the instructions to realize that the button needed to be pressed. :)

..still, this mold has got some serious QC issues... either that or some of us Transfans need to be a little more gentle with our toys... but what about the poor kids?...

I have the 2 pack version with the supposed "defective" long tab. Mine hasn't broken though thankfully, many members here had gave a warning to use the button to initiate automorph all the time, rather than manually doing it. So I use the button all the time, its a hard press but it works. Maybe a note should be made on the manual to do so?

    How did yours break?

It isn't most Bumblebees or most/all 2-packs, angry people are just far more vocal. My first Bumblebee which was alone was fine, as was my friend's, and my friend with the two pack had a perfectly working Bumblebee, as well. And all were the "modified" version people call defective. Luckily people are starting to find ways to improvise repairs on Bumblebee.

Damn you. Now I'll never be able to see him without seeing Rob Zombies face superimposed over him.

Though that does make him even scarier.

Mine's the defective one as well and it took me a couple of days to figure it out (just put the front end in place and really work that button). As an F-body nut I couldn't have a Camaro Transformer that couldn't be displayed in alt. mode. Just seemed like a hassle and more trouble than it's worth. If the instructions tell you to push the front end to the firewall, you'd think that would be all there would be to it. It can be repaired and finagled, yes, but we are mostly adults with access to other fans through these boards, imagine the average 8 year-old with just a finicky toy and vague instructions. In theory I like the concept of automorph, but the execution wasn't that smooth (for mine anyway).

I can see a child bawling over a disfigured mass of yellow and black plastic.

Not me, if the child follows the instructions. And even if he doesn't.

The button is clearly shown with "PRESS HERE" written above it. I think the thing is, if BB's hood doesn't automaticaly clip into place right away, people think it's busted. When in fact, it just needs to be clipped in.

G1 Prime had springs in his arms and legs.

We're just saying the process is far from intuitive.

My defective BB was from a BB/Barricade 2pack as well. I bought a single pack BB later which worked out fine. These things seem to be really hit or miss.
