When I was a wee little kid in the early 1980s the only transformers I had were Prowl and the ambulance transformer which was Ratchet I guess? Then my older sister she got to have Mirage which I was a little jealous LOL.

Yeah I remember the weapons were those hard silver chrome type that got broken real easily if you got rough with them. Then you would get really jealous since you have that cousin who was rich and got the main transformers like Optimus, Soundwave, Megatron and Starscream.

I miss silver chrome accessories. The shiny stuff always looked more like metal and generally just nicer, though chromewear is a pig.

That's one of the many things I loved about Car Robots/RID.... the Car Brothers had chrome weapons

That's why I went Henkei over Classics for guys like Prowl, Bluestreak, and Smokescreen. Gotta get the chrome weapons if you can.

I think that's why I love the Gear of War weapons set. Lovely chrome!

Mostly I agree with this, but I thought the Classics Bluestreak was nicer than the Henkei due to the excellent missile paint apps.

There as something very cool about those early G1 TF's - it just made them that little bit more "special".

Incidentally you can mix and match a bit - Henkei Mirage and Hound can carry their G1 launchers. Really makes the figures pop...

Yep, you can't beat chrome accessories. They just look a bit classier, esp. in my display when they're in a glass cabinet with spotlights etc.

Chrome gleams in those conditions, and combined with the diecast parts of G1 make them look absolutely lovely.

How did you attached Hound's launcher?

I honestly dislike Chrome mainly because of how Chrome eventualy flakes off. Go and look at the Beast Wars and Beast Machines with flaked chrome.

Hound's launcher can clip on just next to his arm on the main torso if you file it just a tiny bit:

    Hope that helps ^^

I think it depends on how chrome is done. If done right (like most of G1), it looks really classy. If it's done cheaply or randomly, it looks very knockoffish.

I'm not a fan of chrome wear, but even chrome wear can kinda look cool for "war torn" robots :)

I love the good old chromed up G1 accessories ( and bot parts) from back in the day.

Not all chrome flakes off. The older G1 chrome doesn't. Neither does the chrome on RID Scourge.

I'm guessing that beast era chrome was probably a different process.

I loved our G1 Dinobots, they really wouldn't look the same without chrome.

I think I've kinda out grown crome, I just don't see the point of it any more, no army worth a damn would go out of there way to make anything shiny that doesn't need to be. Also it looks kinda cheep trying to look expensive and rather childish but that is just me. Thankfully we live in a time that does both.

Um, maybe if you play with the toys, but none of my on-display figs (and yes, I do frequently take 'em down to transform, meddle with etc) have anything wrong with their chrome.

In fact, even old toys I DID play with a lot in the 1980s haven't got particularly bad chrome.

I think this is what most of us who enjoy G1 updates cue in on. I can understand why new fans don't enjoy the chrome, but for us oldskoolers, it just helps even more with the nostalgia :)

That's from a human standpoint, though. I'd imagine this would be one of the many things where Transformers may view things totally differently. Different technology and different materials for weapons perhaps? :)

(That's just me trying to justify something that's already been done in G1, if you couldn't tell :D )

Better way to justify it is to look at human history, the british army used to wear bright red, no exactly the best color for sneeking around in. Also the transformers civil war is not near as advanced tactically as human war, its actually a lot closer to gang war really, an interesting point maybe, human's in some ways are more advanced than transformers? Or at least humans are better at killing each other. Could make for some good futuer stories maybe or at least a fanfic.

    I like this, too :)

One of the things I've always loved with the G1 cartoon is that the Autobots were forced into a war, not that they were warriors to begin with.
