That all seems perfectly reasonable. So is the arm flight mode something automatic, or does Grimlock have to consciously control it? Y'know, keep thinking "Spin spin spin spin spi- Ooh, me Grimlock see house from her- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRGH!" *plummet*

:D  My work here is done.

As a kid, I always liked seeing how kibble on a Transformer could be put to use. I think most people used Prime's smokestacks as arm cannons (and really cool to see that made sorta canon with THS-02). I don't like to think that a TFs robot mode is just the human-shaped bit, with the kibble being just kibble.

Like I said,I can move my feet while I'm sitting down, even if they aren't serving a useful purpose in that "mode".

I've often thought of Classics Starscream kicking an Autobot in the face, and right at the point of impact activating his jet engine. That would rule.

It would be nice to see that sort of thing happening in whatever cartoon we get next. ROTF Ransack has an official flight mode where his kibble deploys so he can fly. Ok, some might say that's just transforming him but stopping halfway, but I like seeing this stuff being used.

Er, guys? The topic? I've taken my own advice and hit the report button, so if we could get back to the thorny issue of kibble and it's uses...

Actually, the In Space... comic I linked to earlier raises a question: can a TF with a beast mode see through both sets of eyes in robot mode?

I don't see why not? In Beast wars, Megatrons arm head thingy blinked. And Scorponok was able see out of his bug missile things.

But i feel that Grimlocks arms did nothing while in robot mode. He's cool enough without em. It would be too much if he had them helping him fight.

Movie megs could spin his treads in bot mode and BB could flap his doors like little butterfly wings, so why can't Grimlock wave his tiny little arms in bot mode. Shame he only has two fingers, I could totally see him walking away from someone while his dino arm flipped a birdy or two. :lol

Also, while it's all well and good to ask if Beast kibble eyes can see while in bot mode, but I feel a more pressing issue is how do car bots see in alt mode? I mean they don't even have eyes, so how do they know where they're going?

Edit: I just realized MP Grim has three fingers in Dino mode...I so have to try this when I get home

    Eyes in the headlights? :D

Which means Prowl could quite easily cheat in any blindfolded party games.

Eyes in headlights work, but how do the Seekers see?

Hmm. An eye in the nosecone? Great forward view, but useless depth perception which makes for incredibly bad dogfights.

They see with their cockpit canopies. Others see with their windshields.

I will admit, one of the only scenes I found actually funny in RotF was seeing Megatron spin his treads on Starscreams face.

I imagine there's only so much room for systems in any TF anyway. You know, you have motors and servos and engines and junk powering different stuff at different times, depending on alt-mode. I mean not all weapons are accessible in all modes. Twin Twist, for example, can't use his drills in robot mode. Slag can't shoot fire-breath out of his robot mouth, and so on.

RotF again...sheesh, why am I using that film as examples? Anyhoo, when whichever-the-hell-Long-Haul-that-becomes-part-of-Devastator transforms, his little headlights turn and "look" at Simmons and Leo as they run off.

But considering how complex a TF is, and how much of what we see outwardly is just disguise elements (normal jets are not spaceworthy) I can imagine they probably have little hidden eyes and sensors on their exterior when transformed. Heck, if they have their sensor suites in the nosecone, like a real jet...the amount of info a real jet can gain just from that is pretty impressive. Now make it a living alien machine.

I've noticed that his arms do stick out in robot mode, but that doesn't really bother me much...

    Probably was mentioned already, but:

Was BW Megatron's T-Rex head ( First alternate mode) conscious?
