    It's not that weird.....it's love :)

My best friend is gay, so maybe i'm desensitized to two men who display affection for one another.....but I see no problem with it :)

If it was two girls kissing and holding hands.....the reaction would be different, right? ;)

It's not Hal Jordan or Guy Gardner so its a weak attempt at a publicity stunt.

I agree 100%. I feel that, if they were serious about wanting to support the gay community, they would have picked a better known character. I knew Superman and Batman weren't changing, but maybe Aquaman? or Wonder Woman?

Aquaman would be a poor choice since he already gets no end of stick from in and outside of the comics fandom. As for chosing Wonder Woman, if people are saying that naming Alan Scott as gay, the level of cynical vomit naming her would have caused would be immeasurable.

I feel Alan Scott wasn't a terrible choice since he's got a long history within comic fandom and his role in the JSA as an old hand at the game, but lacks the widespread recognition within popular culture to make it truly a 'Whoa' moment.

However, it is possible that this is not a badly thought out stunt: DC might makes this a meaningful and important milestone in this New 52 thing.

    Queen Lantern?

The sheer number of jokes about his ring...

If a comic character is ever going to be changed to gay it should be Galactus. Gaylactus?

While I have no problem with homosexual characters (I've written a few myself), the publicity stunt nature of this irks me. Just have it happen and treat it as everyday, which it should be. Don't be all 'Look everybody! We made a gay!'.

It's coming. Expect to see calls for boycotts of DC, Green Lantern, etc.

    Agreed.

Interesting that they made it Alan Scott, an Earth-Two character. I suppose they didn't dare make it a mainline character in fear of a huge backlash, or accusations of promoting "teh gay agenda"...

No, it isn't. Did either of you two bother to read the article? Better yet, do either of you know anything about James Robinson? I'm guessing no to both. Robinson is a big supporter of the LGBT community and wrote the first gay kiss in mainstream comics. He's doing this because he loves the character and he supports gay rights. Didio is the one who decided to make a big deal out of it, AFTER Robinson already decided to make Alan gay. That's right people, someone actually decided to make a character gay before someone else decided to use it as publicity. Shock! Gasp! What a concept!
