My two holy grail wants have always been (1) AFA G1 Megatron (which I've acquired thanks to a member here) and (2) Immaculate condition C-311 Grand Maximus.

After searching and waiting for years today I'm offered a MIB Grand Maximus. Outside and inner box C9 condition, contents completely untouched and still sealed in original bags. Shipped to my door price is $3770.00 USD.

It's a serious decision for me. I know it's a fantastic price but $3800 is still a heck of a lot of money. Need to seriously sleep on this ... thinking of how to convince the wife of this decision :p

    UPDATE 8/01:
I ended up purchasing it. The casing is an additional purchase imported from the US. I posted pictures on post #54 and #62 but I'll just repost them below. Thanks for everybody's input in making this purchase:

Yeah, Grand Max has really skyrocketed lately. I got mine MISB for $3000 shipped about 2 years ago. With the recent eBay activity on him, $3800 for a MIB sample might be the best price you'll see from here on out. It's a good chunk of change, take time to look at your current situation closely before jumping on it.

    Good luck with your decision.

^The realization has just come that I will NEVER be able to get this guy too. Unless I sell my Unused MIB Raiden, MIB Overlord, MIB Japan Computron and Unused MIB Darkwings set....................................Personally, I don't think he's worth all these guys though so SUCH IS LIFE.

Grand Maximus is definitely a great figure. It's really too bad this thing never saw distribution outside of Asia. I mean, you already have the great Fort Max mold, but to have a Pretender shell tossed in as well? Wow, icing on the cake!

    No way!
Take the money, buy a real investment.
Get an income fund or ETF that pay's you 7% in this market. Its just a box with $2 worth of plastic in it.

Don't tell the wife until you already have it :D

Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission and all that...

I tried this once. Never again.

I just ask her to buy for me now. I don't know how I do it but it works better for both of us.

There are times I feel that I spend a bit on this hobby, but $3K is about 2.5 years or so worth of TF purchases for me, and I think that's a generous time frame. I presume that's relative to one's income and such, though. One of the main deterants of a set like the 3rd party Hercules is that I continually think, "that's getting closer to a mortgage payment to me."

Also, as far as the spousal issue goes, I clear a purchase like a MP figure first. Again, probably relative to one's expendable income and such.

I'm still holding out hope for a reissue of Fort Max, and the inevitable ehobby Grand Max. I just can't bring myself to spend over $1,000 for a toy that we KNOW they still have the mold for.

    What I thought. ;)

    Just look at these:

*Car Robot 2000 Baldigus & we get Encore Bruticus*

*Car Robot 2000 Brave Maximus & we get Encore Fortress Maximus*

    Also, do not forget these:

*Book Reissue Insecticons & we get e-Hobby Insecticons*

*Encore Reissue Omega Supreme & we get e-Hobby G1 Guardian Robot*

So what's gonna happen to Encore Metroplex & Fortress Maximus (IF he really becomes available by then? :p

Fortunately, I was presented with an opportunity to buy Grand Maximus before I got married. The amount you're talking about isn't the kind of thing you spend first and ask forgiveness for later.

FM is only rumoured to be released (and have been rumoured for years now) - it doesn't really make sense to hope for a repaimt of a roumored release - especially when the latest release didn't have all FM guns (and FM didn't have all of GMs) It seems... optimistic, bordering on naive to think that he would get a release soon.
