So this is coming to FOX.
Gotham: Batman's Commissioner Gordon Getting FOX TV Series - IGN
Weird. Why FOX and not CW?
LOL! Wow I can't believe this. DC is trying so badly lol.
Here's a thought DC:
Try something original. Just once in your God damn life, do something that isn't trying to be something else.
The WB must not have much faith in it/must not want it?
Plus FOX really wants to stick it to Marvel/Disney, you saw how Fox decided to throw Quicksilver into the next X-Men movie in a throw away scene at the last minute?(filming had started months before they even hired an actor for this BS move)
That all happened after Whedon announced that he was bringing Quicksilver and scarlet witch into Avengers 2
It'll probably be based partially on Gotham Central which came out in the early 2000's
Gotham Central - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Also they almost made it into a tv series 2003
Personally I'd prefer a straight up Gotham Central adaptation as it has cops often dealing with Batman's fall out and he rarely appears.
I still think WB should have reworked that Dick Grayson series they were planning so that instead of it being about circus boy "DJ" Grayson it would have been about Dick's post-Boy Wonder adventures - translation: Nightwing - and brought in all the Bat-villains that Nolan wouldn't have dared touch.
At this point I'm not interested in "Yeah, folks, we're gonna give you YET ANOTHER cop show, only OURS will be different because it's in Gotham City!!! Wait, what's that? Oh, no, um, Batman won't be in it. Sorry."
Yeah if they want to do a superhero show, they need to have super heroes. Nightwing, or Batman himself would make great TV series. Batman would actually work better as a TV series than a Movie. Freak of the week would work very well in a Batman show.
But we do know they are planning a Flash Spin off so we will see how that goes this season on arrow.
Am I the only one who thinks this is cool?
It'll be cool if they have Batman show up in season 2 or 3. Have him be rarely seen and so forth. If they draw it out for several seasons with Batman baddies showing up with out Batman for over that it'll end up like Smallville. Where viewers kept wondering what was the point of him not being superman if he already was a superhero and worked at the planet. Why not just have him put on the freaking costume.
Well, it's about Gordon, so it should be interesting, right?
I think Welling was a big reason there was no costume. Even in the last shot of the series finale instead of the Superman suit under the DP suit it was just a freaking t-shirt.
A show about Gordon could be cool but a show about Nightwing would have been 100x better.
The problem is most network executives still think a superhero show won't work. I mean their last big effort the cape did so well(sarcasim). So they keep trying to do superhero shows with out superheros, yet always seeming to end up with superheros in it. Green Arrow eventually showed up on Smallville, the the JSA. And as much as they don't want to admit it, arrow is a superhero show. Even though they think they are too cool to call him Green Arrow.
They keep thinking they are too cool for traditional heroes, don't respect the source material, and keep being surprised when it doesn't do well and Marvel shows them up at the box office if it's not a film about Batman.
The wheel doesn't need to be reinvented, just have the treads updated.
It will be canceled after 5 episodes because it is Fox. Doesn't matter if the show is good or not.
Because they want people to watch it
Find a decent actor for Gordon and I'll definitely watch this. I don't get the "they're trying to copy Marvel"-ness that others are seeing, but whatever. I couldn't care less about Shield (probably doesn't help that I can't stand Colson), but a show focusing on Gordon, that is something I can get into.
Maybe they are doing it in a deal to get the Adam West Batman on video again. Fox is the major reason it hasn't happened yet.
If so YAY!
It will be like Birds of Prey. Teasing of being in Gotham but no appearances by who people want to see. Batman.
No that's NBC you're thinking off. Because it's FOX (and Batman) it'll go for a whole season and get much better by the second half, end on a cliff hanger. Then get canned.
Or it'll go like the last DC show Fox produced. Be consistently good but never find enough of an audience to last more than 2 seasons.
so... batman with out batman? pass. unless it's gary oldman.
