    Hope they have updated the maps/photos of my area finally ... I want to be able to see more than just a vague blur of my house, especially when I can zoom in on specific cars elsewhere in the world.

    Then convince your state or county government to fly a new aerial survey of at least one meter resolution. One foot would be better. Other than that it's not up to Google.

    As far as the sky thinger goes, I'm going to have to wait until the weekend to play with it.

    I've actually asked somebody at the county auditors office about it (their photos aren't the ones used for Google Earth; theirs actually have higher resolution though) and the impression I got is that whomever's pics they're using (most likely the state's) wouldn't update them just by my request. Hoping the pics have been updated, but given how old some of the pics they have were (from the late 90's if I heard correctly) I'm not holding my breath.
