One of the questions that I get often is how to edit photos in Photoshop. Generally speaking, these persons who tend to ask me this question do not have PS nor have ever used it. I'm not sure how many of you guys out there know about this program (I just found out about it recently), but I just thought I'd pass it along in case you wanted to try it out:

The name of the program is Picasa and is hosted by Google.com (http://picasa.google.com/). One of the cool things that it allows a person to do is to make changes to a photograph without actually changing the specific file. I'm just now going through and learning the ins and outs of the program myself (e.g. I probably won't be able to answer technical questions about it). I just thought I'd throw it out there and let the rest of you guys play around with it (while I do the same :D )

I hear the GIMP is another alternative to photo-editting...but I've never used it personally.

Everyone who's used it seems to say its just as powerful/useful as Photoshop. (But without the cost of course)

But I gotta look into this Picasa!

I use GIMP. I wouldn't say it's "just as powerful and useful" as Photoshop, but it's pretty darned good if you know how to work with layers and selection tools.

Google is getting to host a lot of really, really good programs lately. Didn't I just see they have a really cool 3D editor coming out too?

Picasa is lovely, but it's not nearly as powerful as the GIMP.

Picasa is strictly for editing photos; Photoshop and other similar programs are for photo manipulation. There's a big difference there.

I know a lot of you guys simply want to make slammin' photos of your toys and/or customs. I just figured I'd point you guys to this program. If you're looking for a program to create design in, that's a whole other can of worms. :thumb

(I hope that clears this thread up a tad :) )
