If it creates competition so that other companies increase their speeds, I'm all for it.

Awesome, i've always wanted to save Google the effort of mining for my data by giving them direct acess to my internet traffic.

Are you really that afraid of Google's services? All they want is for the internet to be truly neutral.

100% this. The US and Canada got high speed earlier than anyone else, so the internet providers just stopped there. Now places like South Korea have faster internet for cheaper. From one report I read some cell phone providers in Korea have a high-speed option that is faster than most US cable providers.

Cell phone providers faster than home "high speed" internet boggle my mind.

Dude, if you wanna get truly tin-foil hat google ECHELON.

Google is a targeted advertising business, what they want is more profit and more market share in internet services. Pretty much everything they do is a means to that end, they arn't a benevolant defender of the internet that provides all this stuff at thier own expense out of the kindness of thier hearts.

They arn't any better or any more in the interests of the consumer then the likes of Microsoft or Apple, they just have a better public image and different business model.

Sounds like a plan, I need some signal monitoring equipment and Google will be able to advertise it to me once they know that i'm interesed.

Exactly. Google is one of the few search engines that will give up your info to the gov if they ask. By law companies don't have to give up your info without a warrant, but Google has no problem giving it to them if they just ask.
