It's been years since I've bought a handheld, but I got a PSP the other day (the combo pack that comes with Metal Gear). I wasn't too interested in the DS because I didn't want to mess with using the stylus.

I was actually looking for an old-school Gameboy but didn't see one, so I didn't know if they even still made those.

Anyway, I got a PSP. Haven't had a chance to check out Metal Gear yet, but what are some other good games for the console?

Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X are two of my favorites (well, they're the only games I have for the PSP besides The Force Unleashed).

Crisis Core is pretty awesome if you were ever a Final Fantasy 7 fan. It's about the only FF7 continuation that was worth while. MACH is a cool sleeper game that combines Wipeout with Ace Combat (Jet Racing and Dog Fighting). Patapon is one of the best rythm game eveeeerr. The God of War series is very well-done on the PSP. Ratchet and Clank has a pretty good game on the PSP as does the Jak and Daxter franchise. The Resistance game on PSP is freakin' awesome, as is the Syphon Filter series (probably better on the PSP than any previous game). Killzone on the PSP is a unique blend of Diablo and Third Person shooter. And there are a bunch of good RPGs on the system too. Monster Hunter is great Multiplayer as is Phantasy Star Portable 2, if you're into that kinda thing.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Solid, deep story, awesome gameplay, and tons of replay value.

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles: You really can't go wrong here. Two of the best Castlevanias all wrapped up in one nice little package.

LocoRoco: Weird game if you need to a weird fix.

Silent Hill Origins: Not as good as 1-3 on the home consoles, but it's still an okay game. I never get tired of bashing monsters over the head with TV sets. :D

    Yeah. That one.
I personally like the DBZ Budokai games on the PSP as well, but that's just me.

The remake of the original Valkyrie Profile, Valkyrie Profile Lenneth, is awesome. That's one of the games I got the PSP for in the first place.

Might want to check out Dissidia Final Fantasy as well, though you may want to hang fire on picking it up since there's a new one in the works.

The two that I play most on my PSPgo are God of War: Chains of Olympus, and LittleBigPlanet. Other than those, I have MGS: Portable Ops, and Burnout Legends. Really excited for Ghost of Sparta in November.

I would second quite a few of the games listed above and I'll add Justice League Heroes and Harvey Birdman.

Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is pretty cool. I'm sure there are better PSP games out there, but it's the only one I've played.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'm definitely down for some old-school gaming like Mega Man and Castlevania.

So the fighting games like Justice League, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Street Fighter...those are pretty good in terms of graphics & game play?

Justice League Heroes is a pretty awesome port of the PS2 game, but be warned, it's only one player, unlike the Marvel games, which do have Multiplayer.

While they are old now so at least very cheap to get a hold of Locoroco, Lumines I & II are my favourite games on the system.
