Okay, since this year is the 25th anniv. of Transformers, I guess I'll ask if there's plans for an English dubbing.

If not, anyone know a good deal? Since Shout! released TFs on 16 DVDs, I don't trust the 6 set from Malaysia, but any help is appreciated.

PS, if the only way is to get them via bootleg AKA illegally, then I understand the board's policy if this thread needs to be deleted.

    Thanks for any advice.

Just get the Metronome releases through Amazon.co.uk. They should work on all dvd players since they are region free.

Would the search be "Transformers Metronome"?

    Thanks, BTW.

Only the first run of Headmasters by Metrodome is region free, BTW. Masterforce, Victory, and the complete boxed set are all UK Region 2, due to a request from Sony / not wanting to tread on Sony's toes.

Still no problem with a region free DVD player.

No not quite. Those are in PAL format, all North American players are NTSC. PAL WILL NOT work an NTSC player, regardless if it's region free or not.

This isn't an issue if you want to play the dvd's on your computer. But if you want to enjoy them as should be properly enjoyed (in front of a tv) then you would need a PAL format DVD player. Everything here in the U.S. is in NTSC format...even the PS3 is NTSC vs. Europe's PS3 which is PAL.

    They are incompatible.

I just bought that set from ebay for £16.95. It arrived today, and it's the real deal - sealed and everything.

They have just listed some more [EBAYLINK="160350978044"]here[/EBAYLINK].

It's a great price for the set - I seriously doubt you'd get it cheaper elsewhere. Listing says they only post to the UK though.

Phillips 642, 5990 and 5992 all have a remote code to ignore region locks and automatically convert pal to ntsc..

Might've loaded up on it when it was cheap. Because it WAS going for CRAZY-cheap for a while back there.

The black and silver foil boxed UK release IS NOT region free. DO NOT buy the set unless you have a PAL capable, region free DVD player or a PC with a drive that is set to region 2. While it may be a great price, it's still a waste if you can't use it.

That's interesting considering my piece of crap DVD player made by Target plays them just perfectly, regardless of PAL/NTSC. Do you actually own these dvds and have you tried them? I had the same train of thought and one day I said, "what the hell, let's see what happens," and it worked. Maybe on later releases they work or something.
