    Hi Guys,
I'm looking for ideas of something that's currently readily available that would be a good base for a classics style ironhide or ratchet.

I have both classics, but HATE the alt modes. I cannot stand how they go together like a jigsaw puzzle, and they just look like crap to me.

I'm looking to just use the heads, and start all over. I've been searching online for a while, but haven't seen anything that has really stood out. I don't care if it's movie based, animated based, knock off based, etc... I'm just looking for a good base to mod and use the heads with. Please post if anyone has any ideas!! :)

Wfc sound wave could be a good start but would need some heavy modding

not a bad idea....he's pretty available at the moment too, so that's a big plus. I'll have to give that some thought. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Energon Inferno is a great base for Ironhide & Ratchet.

Yeah, wish I wouldna got rid of mine! I can definitely see him as an ironhide, but for Ratchet, I think there would be some heavy modding involved. Thanks for reminding me about this guy :)

I did mine w/ Energon Inferno too.
I've also seen people use Energon Tow Line, but I think this fig is even more rare

really? I bought some to make myself a ratchet and I got it for cheap.

Sarrow, I have the same beef with these molds. I'm keeping classics ironhide as is (for now), but i'm going the energon towline route for ratchet. My current ratchet is going to a friend, but before I give it to him i'll be molding and casting the head to put on the towline body (he's knows i'm doing this and is okay with it, as it gets him a ratchet for cheap).

I completly forgot about that inferno mold. that could be perfect, and I have that in a bin somewhere.....need to dig it out. you scrap the whole combiner parts, and you have a decent shell of a figure. Hmmmmm......

I'd join in this thread from the same page, which asks exactly the same question. :)
