Even though Nintendo has no legal standing to keep it off XBLA, Activision is gonna listen to Nintendo. So unless MS gets the Bond license directly, Goldeneye will not be on XBLA, and there is no chance it will hit VC as long as Rare is owned by MS. Can't say I blame MS, I wouldn't let Nintendo have it either with that attitude.
Can't say I blame Nintendo, I wouldn't let MS have it either with that attitude. I just wish I could play it again either way. : /
Nintendo was offered a deal where they would both get it. Nintendo acted like a 2 year old and said "NO! MINE! I won't share!"
I think this game is being put on a pedestal. Yep, it would be fun for nostalgic purposes, but I think if people got it on XBL or VC, they would realize that it has lost its luster a bit.
You don't say. "Sure, you can have the old version, just as long as we get to make a shiny new improved version to compete with it." I wouldn't take that deal either.
Not particularly. If everyone is almost without doubt going to get the other version, there's not much reason to offer something. Furthermore, offering an inferior version of the game would reflect badly on Nintendo, possibly doing more harm than good.
I thought it was overrated even when it first came out. I mean, it was good, but not as great as people made it out to be. It was pretty annoying at gaming parties as a kid, where we had a ton of more exciting games around and everyone just wanted to play GoldenEye. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it was the first decent console FPS and also had James Bond in it...
The newest EGM has a rumor saying MS had been working on Goldeneye themselves but canned the project even though it was very close to or finished. Honestly Nintendo has very little say unless the game is being emulated. Its a Rare owned game, just like Conker, Banjo, the Gemini game, etc with Activision holding the Bond License.
how could it be a solely rare owned game? Nintendo logos are all over the box and the opening...... just cuz rare made the game doesnt mean they own the game..... i. e. donkey kong country... which is already on VC
I have to say that I like the irony of Nintendo and MS fighting over Goldeneye when movie-related Bond rights are co-owned by a subsidary of a company that Sony has a 20% share of. Publishing a title isn't the same thing as actually owning the rights to it, especially when licenced material is involved. Apple and Orange, Donkey Kong is Nintendo IP and James Bond isn't.
I think that is under the assumption that everyone owns a Wii and 360. No one is going to buy one system over the other with this game. Nintendo Wii has the majority of the market share, this game will sell on VC regardless of it being on XBL with prettied up graphics or not.
I think it's due largely to the N64 controller being inferior for FPS. Port the game to a console where you can use 2 control sticks and it'd play nicely. Though the game did have those stupid "protect" missions in which an NPC with the IQ of butter had to be protected, despite their habit of getting shot at.
GoldenEye 007 is the game I've always wanted most to be added to the VC or upgraded for WiiWare. My friends and I played that game religiously for years, along with 'WCW Vs NWO' World Tour/Revenge on the N64. Truthfully speaking, if GoldenEye was ever to be released on XBLA with online play and updated graphics, I would seriously buy a 360 for it. It may sound odd to say the least, with the XBOX 360 already having some great games in it's library, but my 'purchase reasonings' have never been normal. heh
